We returned to this restaurant after several years, but unfortunately, our expectations were dashed by the quality of the food served. The value for money, once a strong point, has completely reversed: the quality has dropped significantly, while the prices have fallen in line with the average high season.

Great fish restaurant with flair!
The Red Moon in Syracuse is a real insider tip for fish lovers. The freshness of the seafood is impressive across the board – whether grilled, as pasta, or prepared in the classic Sicilian style. Add to that a pleasant atmosphere and friendly service. A definite recommendation for anyone seeking authentic fish cuisine!

A great spot for a fresh seafood lunch. We booked, they were already open so arrived a little early & were seated outside. There is a larger dining space- almost tent like, but on a 30* day this didn’t appeal.
Some birra Moretti to cool down with a shared plate of spaghetti ai frutti di mare- generous with Vongole & mussels, some tomato broth/liquid was delicious. The place was full by 1345, so make a booking, closed Thursdays. Definitely returning, the setting isn’t upmarket (more rustic over the back of the port), but locals are there in droves.

Il ristorante si trova nei pressi del porto di Siracusa, non distante dalla splendida Ortigia.
L'interno è spartano, il personale gentilissimo.
Buonissimo il polpo caldo mangiato come antipasto, ottimi gli spaghetti al nero di seppia, così come la frittura, in entrambi i casi veramente abbondanti.

You can eat excellent fish in this old-fashioned tavern. Sublime stewed octopus, spaghetti with squid ink to remember, excellent frying.
