Atmosphere of the past and a refined and authentic cuisine, where you can rediscover the flavors of the Oltrepò. With an excellent selection of local wines and beyond. Giorgio, the owner, welcomes you with a smile and the competence of someone who does their job with passion. A round of applause also to the dining room staff. Absolutely worth trying.

Prato Gaio is a jewel hidden in the hills of the Oltrepò Pavese, a restaurant that combines tradition and creativity in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The cuisine is a tribute to the authentic flavors of the area, with dishes that tell the story and the passion for local gastronomy. Each course is taken care of down to the smallest detail, from starters to desserts, with the highest quality ingredients and a perfect balance of flavours. The wine list is full of local excellences, carefully selected to best accompany each dish. I recommend the Bonarda - Vigna del Povromme! The service is impeccable: the staff is professional, attentive and ready to advise with competence. The atmosphere of the place, elegant but without excess, makes the experience even more pleasant. If you are looking for a special place to savor the true cuisine of the Oltrepò Pavese, Prato Gaio is a must. Absolutely recommended!

Gioiello della ristorazione nella campagna pavese. In un’eleganza d’altri tempi, viene proposta una cucina locale dai sapori antichi, con piatti estremamente curati e ben descritti dal personale di sala che li arricchisce con la loro storia popolare. Consiglio il collo d’oca, se disponibile. Veramente una bella esperienza come è difficile fare oggigiorno. Carta dei vini a disposizione estremamente interessante. Conto in linea con le aspettative e con la proposta culinaria. Prenotazione quasi obbligatoria.

Jewel of catering in the Pavia countryside. In an elegance of times gone by, a local cuisine with ancient flavors is offered, with extremely carefully prepared dishes well described by the dining room staff who enrich them with their popular history. I recommend the gooseneck, if available. Truly a beautiful experience as it is difficult to do nowadays. Extremely interesting wine list available. Bill in line with expectations and with the culinary proposal. Reservation almost mandatory.

Highly recommended. The room itself is surprising: it is a journey (a beautiful journey!) through time. Menu that respects seasonality, the territory and its history, with attention to the combination of flavors. Cuisine with attention to every aspect, we really appreciated every dish. Accurate service. The only note: there is no choice of wines by the glass (the cellar is excellent, of course, up to par). Adequate price, the experience is worth it.

You feel like you're entering grandma's house, from the furnishings to the scent. The cuisine is certainly good for the quality of the raw materials used. However, I found the portions small and above all the price too high for what we ate.

The restaurant is housed in an ancient mill restored with great care, surrounded by nature, a true corner of peace. The environment is refined but welcoming, perfect for those looking for a gastronomic experience that combines taste and beauty. The dishes are taken care of down to the smallest detail, with quality ingredients and particular attention to presentation. Every time we go back, we always find something new to try, but with the certainty of impeccable cuisine. Furthermore, Acquamatta is magical in every season: the menus change following the seasonality of the ingredients, always fresh and made the most of, and the surrounding environment offers different and evocative scenarios at every time of the year. The staff is very kind and always attentive, and the owner is an extraordinary person, capable of making every guest feel welcome. 05/02/2025: Una piacevolissima scoperta questo locale e, senza dubbio, una delle cene più riuscite per noi degli ultimi tempi. Innanzitutto gli ambienti curati e accoglienti, il servizio gentile e molto disponibile e poi il menù degustazione, veramente soddisfacente sia come qualità che come piatti, alcuni con abbinamenti interessanti e molto equilibrati. Abbiamo trovato buonissima l’insalata russa e straordinari i salumi, come perfetto di cottura e calibrato negli ingredienti il risotto con Stafforella, cavolo nero e melagrana. Anche i secondi, di gran gusto e sostanza, ci hanno veramente soddisfatto, con l’anatra con nespole antiche e agrumi e lo stufato di vacca varzese. Si beve molto bene con una carta interessante dove scovare chicche poco conosciute. Insomma, da tornare prestissimo!
21/10/2024: Ricordi di famiglia che si intrecciano negli anni. Metà fissa da tempo immemorabile, non delude mai. Piatti della tradizione innaffiati da un ottimo bonarda.
