25/03/2024: Always looking for tastes and flavors far from the cities, they had recommended "il casale del barone" to us, telling us that we would certainly find what we were looking for in a site in the middle of the Mercatello hills (the final 4-5 km of dirt road are absolutely doable with a normal car), where “absolute peace reigns”.
Well, everything is very true: welcomed with a smile by Mrs. Donati's daughter (at least so we believe, given the strong resemblance) we immediately immersed ourselves in the tradition that made us take a leap back in time by about 40 years... from the cutting boards of cold appetizers (cold cuts and fresh cheese with jam and what about the giardiniera...) and hot ones (the focaccias stuffed with wild herbs, absolutely delicious, like the pickled wild boar, a delicacy), to move on to the "white" lasagne with mushrooms and what about the tagliolini with duck sauce, which we made an encore of!
Excellent steak and ribs, as well as the jugged donkey: if they hadn't told us, we wouldn't have recognized the latter at all.
At the end, tart and a sort of semifreddo with jam and very good fresh cheese, accompanied by coffee (finally made with mocha!) and an absolutely delicious "Centerbe" type grappa.
In summary: quality, courtesy and convenience are the characteristics of the "casale del barone" and we will certainly return: highly recommended!!!!
