An institution. The cecina and quartino are exceptional! Our favorites are the schiacciatina with cecina and eggplant, and the one with raw Tuscan sausage is unbeatable... yum!

Don't be fooled by other modern sandwich shops; the great classics are only here, and they're made by god! This team of boomers seems to have been working 24/7 for 50 years, churning out unbeatable cecina and focaccia; they're unstoppable. And what about the lady who runs the place? If you're rude, slow her down in ordering, or otherwise mess up, she'll glare at you, making up for the slap your mother should have given you. And she has a memory better than a computer at remembering your orders half an hour after you've ordered them—she's phenomenal. It's a spectacle to watch this team work so closely together, like a regatta crew; they don't even need to talk anymore. Remember, the focaccias need a glass of sparkling wine. I hope they never close!

A must for cecina, a must-try when I go to Pisa!

Simple food: fragrant pizza, cecina, and stuffed focaccia. An unpretentious place, but one where you eat well and the price is right. On Saturdays, there's a long line at lunchtime, but it's worth it.
