The legendary Paradiso cake, soft and dusted with powdered sugar, that I used to get before going to Bonghi Elementary School, is unforgettable. It's a joy to see the business still going and to be able to get the same treats for our children.

I'm not a cookie lover, in fact I avoid them altogether, especially the sugary, industrial ones. But when I pass by Colle Oppio, a visit to this shop seems obligatory. You enter a shop from another era, when rushed consumption wasn't the norm, when products weren't all clones and didn't contain dozens of ingredients. I asked to taste a few cookies, and the owner patiently listed the different assortments of the many cookies: butter, chocolate, cinnamon, anise, lemon, and many more. Places like this should be protected, because by making things the traditional way, you often rediscover a lost quality.

Tornare qui è ritornare indietro nel tempo, quando ancora l’unica preoccupazione era quella di crescere in fretta, ignari di quanto velocemente ciò si avvera. E allora si entra, si annusa l’aria del bambino che sei stato, si guarda con gli occhi di un tempo, si prende meno di quel tanto che si vorrebbe (per lasciarsi la possibilità di ritornare) e si scappa rapidamente dal passato lontano, con mille pensieri e una lacrima di nostalgia.
