I went today with a friend and her dog. We had lunch in the lovely outdoor space (a precious spot in the center of Bologna).
Very friendly service.
Good food.

Difficult to go wrong in Bologna, but if you end up here you can be sure you did really well! The menu is not just a collection of standards, but reveals a love for originality, so Real Craftsmanship. And the wines are in the same category: not samo samo standard but selected with care and knowledge. So I guess I can recommend this place.

We had an unforgettable dinner at Trattoria Pane e Panelle in Bologna — a Sicilian seafood gem that impressed us from the first bite to the last. The kitchen combines tradition with creativity in a way that feels both confident and deeply authentic.
The seafood spaghetti was perfectly cooked and full of flavor, but the standout was the grilled fish served with a remarkable sauté of fennel, green apple, red onion, and Marcona almonds — a combination so delicious I was tempted to order it again. Their panelle, the classic Sicilian chickpea fritters, were light, and beautifully made.
Dessert continued the theme of excellence: a smooth pistachio cream and a Sicilian Torta Caprese in a luscious sauce. The wine selection was thoughtful and well‑paired, and the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming.
My husband and I highly recommend Trattoria Pane e Panelle to international food lovers seeking a meal that is rooted in Sicilian tradition and inventive.

It's always a pleasure to dine in this quiet little place, with excellent cuisine and a great deal of kindness and attention to detail. The dishes are varied, with unusual but delicious and well-prepared fish options, and great care is taken in selecting vegetables, always with an eye to seasonality.
