Osteria Sopra Il Mare In Genova

Interesting little place. Even the alley it's located on is very quaint. The osteria is a very simple, rustic trattoria, and the food is excellent. I highly recommend the octopus tripe, which in my opinion is the star dish. I found it indescribable 🤩🤩

It was closing time and they still gave us excellent service. We ordered the grilled fish platter and it was spectacular!! Everything was cooked perfectly, and Alessio, the waiter, was a delight!! Highly recommended!

Amazing restaurant and amazing staff, service is great and their tagliolini pasta with shrimp is wonderful I just hoped it had more shrimp. Would definitely come back

I visited this restaurant with my partner during a short vacation in Genoa. The atmosphere is very pleasant, informal, and yet intimate. The dining room is small, but we were lucky to find a free table. The lady taking orders is very friendly and has a manner I found pleasant. There's also a young woman learning the trade, with a warm and sweet smile. At first glance, the menu prices may seem high (though it must be said that they're in line with local prices), but I noticed that the portions justified the cost. I ordered fried anchovies, which were "just right," plump and flavorful (I've worked in Roman restaurants for twenty years and know a thing or two about fried anchovies), and a fish fry, also expertly prepared. I was very impressed with the appetizer, octopus tripe, prepared in a way I'd dare call masterful: tender, flavorful on the palate, truly exceptional. Another thing I appreciated was my companion's order of branda cujun (which I'm sure I misspelled, don't be offended), a sort of creamed cod (and cod is also considered sacred in Rome) that was truly delicious. The place is located near the port and therefore the old town of Genoa. I'll be back.

We stopped by chance and it was a lovely discovery. Very close to the Genoa Aquarium, generous and tasty portions. Excellent fish quality. Our favorite dish is the octopus tripe, truly delicious. Tender and flavorful octopus.

I had dinner with friends. We were warmly welcomed and kindly received from Debora, and Olga was very friendly and helpful despite her young age. I recommend it and we'll be back!

We booked a table for four, and they reserved a small table for us, which was positioned so that it blocked the waitress's passage. We waited a while for the starters, but I must say the waitress was kind, even though you could hear the chef swearing from the kitchen. I wanted to leave, since I was there with small children.

We had dinner this evening with my daughter. The tuna steak was excellent and perfectly cooked... the pasta with pesto was delicious. The owner makes you feel at home in a simple setting. Highly recommended.

Discovered this restaurant by chance, but it was truly a stroke of luck. Highly recommended for the food and the kindness of the staff.
