Osteria Oliva Nera In Venezia

We love this place! Isabella, Jessica and staff are always warm, attentive and a pleasure. We try to come here every time we visit Venice. Of course the food is what makes this place shine. They use the freshest ingredients and best possible products. I love squid ink and Isabella does offer many diff options but I had commented that to her and she offered to make a spaghetti with squid ink as main dish and wow what a delicious simple but wonderful dish. My wife had a sea bass dish that also wowed her. We had other sides but her garden salad was simply out of this world delicious. You can't go wrong with this wonderful place. Couple of tips: make a reservation and bring cash for tips (they can't add it to the bill which you can pay with credit card)

Our favorite meal in Venice. It does not feel overwhelmingly fancy, which is exactly the appeal. A mother/son/daughter combination were our servers on the evening we were there, and you could tell they took pride in the menu and in making great recommendations. We took a recommendation on the zucchini fritters for an appetizer, which we never would have gotten otherwise, and they were great. The pasta was incredible, as was the seafood. And the chocolate cake...we almost passed on dessert and that would have been a grave mistake. There are some restaurants in Venice where you can tell they are just tolerating the tourists. This is not one of them. We felt we were being welcomed into someone's kitchen. We will definitely return.
