Osteria Novella is still the best, even after so many years. They always manage to maintain the highest quality: tasty fresh pasta, spectacular meat, wonderful desserts... the staff is excellent. Many compliments to Novella's sons and daughters who have run this restaurant for so many years with passion and dedication. Highly recommended!!!

When we go to Bologna, Osteria Novella is a must. Excellent food, from starters to main courses to desserts, and a good wine list. Unfortunately, there are fewer and fewer places like this.

I gave the atmosphere a 4 because it's an old-fashioned osteria, just the way I like it. The tables and chairs are simple and very casual, which not everyone will like. The price is perhaps a little higher than average... not like an osteria!

Patience, that's what it takes to eat at Novella: it takes patience to get there, patience to wait (dishes are made to order and not ready-made), and patience to reserve (you need to call ahead). But it's worth it. The location isn't convenient, but you can enjoy a breathtaking view and a pleasant temperature on hot days. The menu is (apparently) sparse; it's best to wait for directions from those who come to take your order, and then you discover a list of pasta dishes served with either Bolognese ragù or with mushrooms or truffles, depending on the season, and then grilled meats: from beef to pork, including the typical mutton. Perfectly cooked, tender, and flavorful. The meat and homemade pasta are the highlights. The side dishes are also excellent, with friggione and potatoes being super. The platter is also interesting. The portions are generous.

In the summer, an outdoor table offers a fantastic view and allows you to savor all the dishes, from starters to main courses. I highly recommend consulting the menu, otherwise, if you order by word of mouth, you might be surprised by the bill.
