It was recommended to us for dinner and we returned for lunch the next day. What can I say? A must-see, everything was excellent, and the motorbike parking in front of the restaurant is another strong point (in addition to Pignata and Pignatella), which are spectacular.

This place was recommended by the lady renting the apartment. The "Tituoarna Pignata" is a dish of braised lamb served in a clay pot covered with yeast dough. If it breaks well, the waiter will make a plate out of the lid. The dish itself was decent, although I expected a thicker sauce, a la ragout, and it was soup. The rest of the family had pizza (good) and pasta. The portions were okay; you could fill up in one dish. The prices were very reasonable for this type of place. It's busy, so you can tell they feed you well. I recommend it!

A very pleasant business dinner with a colleague. A simple restaurant on a street very close to the historic center, with traditional and welcoming furnishings and decor. Very good food, generous portions, and a fair price. It's a shame they don't have outdoor seating, but I'd definitely recommend it.

I dined at this restaurant as a couple. It was a very, very pleasant experience. We shared a house appetizer, a first and second course each, and two desserts, beer, and water, all for €68. The food was truly excellent and well-cooked, and the price was very fair. The waiters were very kind and fast. If it weren't for the distance, I would return very often. I absolutely recommend it.

On the recommendation of the staff at Masseria Santa Lucia, we had dinner at La Pignata on our first evening in Matera—and we couldn’t have been happier. We shared a pizza, orecchiette, and of course, the namesake Pignata—a terracotta pot filled with tender meats and vegetables, topped with a crust of baked bread. Words can’t do justice to the comfort and flavor of that meal. As we finished, my husband said, “I could order this exact meal again right now—it was that good.” Beyond the food, it was a pleasure to watch the staff in action. Their seamless teamwork and attention to detail made the entire dining experience feel effortless and welcoming. La Pignata will be our very first meal stop when we return to Matera.

Seguendo le recensioni di Tripadvisor abbiamo pranzato in questo locale, molto ampio, con le volte in tufo. In vista il forno elettrico dove preparano le pizze. Il personale cordiale ma poco coordinato (passavano più volte a chiederci le cose).Il cibo buono e di qualità.

26/07/2025: The restaurant is located on one of the main streets in the lower part of the Sassi di Matera. Inside, the architecture is unique, the restaurant is tastefully furnished, and the staff are very courteous and friendly, all in a truly authentic atmosphere. The menu, in my opinion, can be overwhelming: although all the dishes obviously draw on traditional elements, the pairings really pique your curiosity and appetite, so you'll want to try everything! The wine list is simple and quite refined, with the option of drinking local wines from both well-known and lesser-known producers at very reasonable markups. The owner is a true host, although he told us he stumbled upon this adventure somewhat by chance. He speaks several languages, is knowledgeable, attentive, and never intrusive. The other staff in the dining room were also excellent, and of course the chef and his team. We spent a wonderful family evening at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend it, especially because the restaurant manages to stand out from all the others around it, and there are many!

03/07/2025: Excellent authentic Italian trattoria, in a quiet park in Montescaglioso, with very willing and extremely helpful staff. The food it serves is authentic Italian and homemade. The portions are huge and the taste is indescribable. Two of us ate until we were full on both nights we stayed here, for €25 each for dinner. I highly recommend it.
