Osteria La Ghianda In Sansepolcro

A colleague and I were in Sansepolcro for work. Looking for a quiet place to eat, we stumbled upon this typical Tuscan osteria. As soon as we entered, I was immediately struck by a beautiful drum kit—a musical instrument I play—which made me think the owner was a musician as well as a restaurateur, and I wasn't wrong. But let's not beat around the bush and talk about the place and the food instead. We were greeted by a very professional, kind, polite, and above all knowledgeable young woman who offered advice and clarification both during the selection process and when it came time to serve the dishes, clearing up any doubts and concerns. We sat on the outdoor veranda, as it was a beautiful day today, and ordered the menu, which you can easily find online. I won't list it here, but I want to tell you about what I ate! I had a mixed antipasto with delicacies from days gone by, a wonderful warm liver pâté on warm toasted bread, a panzanella like I hadn't had in a long time, not to mention a wonderful crostini with caramelized onions, as well as cold cuts and excellent cheeses. Then I ordered pici all'aglione, made with a sauce of green tomatoes and, of course, aglione, on which I was advised to grate some fresh Pienza pecorino, grind some pepper, and drizzle with a drizzle of Tuscan DOP olive oil! The pasta wasn't dry, but fresh pici with a fantastic consistency. They were perfect, perhaps—and I'm not exaggerating—the best pici all'aglione I've ever eaten! I want to compliment chef Batterista and his staff. Highly recommended.

Simple, friendly atmosphere, busy but quiet place, excellent cuisine and impeccable service.

My partner and I stopped by chance for a quick aperitif, we asked for two glasses of wine with aperitif. We received a platter with three types of delicious bruschetta and the wine was also really excellent, plus we were also offered some bread with local oil, delicious!!!! The girl who served us was very kind and very helpful, highly recommended and I would definitely go back to try the cuisine!!!

Perfect! We were there with 12 people, and they helped us perfectly. The food was delicious!

Super welcome and stellar food!!

Interesting restaurant. The rooms are full of paintings, welcoming, and have a music corner (drums and piano) that unfortunately wasn't in use when we went. We had (for two) pici al fumo and tortelli with wild boar, both very good. The tortelli were definitely homemade. Water and two coffees, €35. The waitress was very nice and kind. We were having lunch inside, but while we were there, a bad storm came in. She quickly moved everyone who was eating outside inside, single-handedly, continuing the service and never losing her smile. Excellent experience

Excellent food and a warm welcome, with very helpful, friendly, and kind staff. Everything, from the meat to everything else, was always top-quality, cooked correctly and with care. The portions were also generous, a pleasant surprise.

We are transplanted Americans (we will now live here forever!), and we eat here every week. We have our favorites, but have found that everything is tasty, creatively prepared, and well worth the price. It is one of our go-to restaurants. And take-away is well done, as well. Very professional.

Mio marito e io abbiamo trovato buoni sia il tagliere misto (affettati, formaggi, crostini vari...), che i pici al fumo, ma ciò che ci ha colpiti di più sono state la gentilezza ed efficienza del personale. Tutti davvero molto, molto carini. I prezzi sono nella media (92 euro per due aperitivi, un generoso antipasto, due primi piatti, mezzo litro di vino rosso della casa, una bottiglia d'acqua minerale, due caffè e due digestivi).
