I strolled through Castel San Pietro Terme (if you're unfamiliar with this town, I recommend spending at least an afternoon there: a peaceful place with the immense Piazza XX Settembre, which is truly charming) and—via the internet—I found this restaurant. I had a wonderful experience: the place isn't very big and is very warm (perhaps due to the predominantly wood decor) and welcoming. The atmosphere is truly relaxing (I really appreciated the low volume of everyone's voices). As for the service, we were served by a very kind gentleman (the owner?) who was very good at guiding customers through their choices. The food was exquisite: the smallest tortellini I've ever seen in my entire life (I think that's the place's signature dish, you absolutely must try it), nettle gnocchi sautéed with gorgonzola, excellent fried fish… everything was truly delicious! The prices were absolutely reasonable.

It's a place that maintains the authenticity of an osteria, starting with the decor—a step back in time, not stale but pleasant. The simple menu focuses on the typical dishes of this area on the border between Emilia and Romagna; with ficattola instead of the more famous (local) crescentina.
Highlights include the platters, soups, and grilled meats, with mutton at the forefront.
The mutton was good: tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The mixed grill was also good. The friggione was a bit too runny for my taste; I usually prefer it thinner and a bit more flavorful, but still good. The ficattole were smaller than I'm used to, but crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. A nice carafe of Lambrusco accompanied it. In short, a place where substance is key, perfect for a quiet evening with friends or family.

Rustic yet family-friendly...a typical yet well-kept osteria.
The food is truly excellent, so it's worth making a reservation. Good-quality, local produce. We had a really good time, and for what we ate, we spent less than we thought!
I absolutely recommend it.

I had lunch at this restaurant for two days. The service was fast and attentive. The dishes were excellent: I tried the pumpkin-filled tortelli with parmesan shavings, which were delicious, and then a tagliata, which was tender and cooked just as I asked for!

We had dinner as a couple on Valentine's Day, ordering two starters (pumpkin cappellacci and tagliatelle with shallots and ham) and two main courses with sides (fried cod with battered onion rings and fillet with frigione). Everything was truly delicious, in a casual, simple setting, with excellent service from both the staff and the owner. The quality/price ratio is amazing. We'll definitely be back.

Home cooking, everything excellent, the fresh homemade pasta is the star.
From the tagliatelle to the cappellacci, to the tagliatelle with nettles, everything is truly delicious. Also noteworthy is the kindness and friendliness of the staff. Top!
