We returned here, even though we'd been here three years ago. You always return to places where you've had a good time.
To start, we had the raw cheese platter, scrambled eggs with truffle, and onion parmigiana (if they have it, get it, it's amazing). The great thing is that there's a deli counter where you can choose your appetizers.
For first courses, pappardelle with wild boar and stringozzi with cavolo nero and hazelnuts, both truly flavorful and well-seasoned. Obviously, everything was washed down with a glass of Montefalco DOCG.
For dessert, the Rocciata (a sort of strudel) and a cheesecake made fresh with crushed biscuits as a base, cream cheese, and then (in my opinion) the star of this dessert, the hazelnut cream with 45% hazelnuts (it's on sale in front of the register, and of course I got a jar); If you like, you can also order it with pistachio cream or grape jam. All washed down with a glass of Sagrantino Passito.
The staff were very friendly and attentive; they even moved us to a table because we were next to a table with a lot of noisy children (nothing against kids, but we couldn't hear each other if we were making noise).
A pleasant experience.

We stayed nearby and arrived late to check in, so we were lucky to find this restaurant open. It was quiet (we were there in early October), but the service was attentive and helpful, offering great pairing suggestions — occasionally a little assertive, but with good intentions. The beef cheek was excellent, and the wine they recommended ended up being one of the best we had during our trip to Italy. We even came back the next day to buy a bottle to take with us. A little pricey, but worth it.

A welcoming and well-maintained venue, with ambient music at just the right volume, friendly and attentive staff, quality cuisine with a focus on local produce, and a good selection of wines. The price was in line with the restaurant's caliber. I'm looking forward to returning for a fifth star.

Absolutely outstanding! Osteria il Sagrantino in Montefalco is a true gem. Local cheeses and cold cuts were heavenly, pasta with truffles was out of this world, and the tiramisù finished the meal on a perfect high. The Montefalco Sagrantino red wine tied it all together—bold, elegant, unforgettable. A must-visit if you love authentic Umbrian food and wine. Bravo!

If it had been possible to give more than five stars, I would have. An unexpected experience in the heart of Italy for me, a Milanese. The à la carte risotto, an innovative recipe, the excellent quality rice, and above all the sheep's milk ricotta from the La Redola Verde farm, which we later visited, were outstanding. The restaurant offered courtesy and professionalism in a charming setting. The suggested pairing was a Trebbiano Spoletino, perfect. We'll be back, and in the meantime, I'm happy to recommend it.

I always love returning to Osteria il Sagrantino
Pleasant atmosphere inside and a beautiful garden outside
They were super kind in accommodating our dietary needs
Extensive selection of local and international wines
Prices are average for the area for a nice restaurant in Montefalco
The selection of cheeses won us over
We'll definitely be back

We had lunch (so to speak: it's an understatement considering the portions) at Osteria Sagrantino, five of us, with high expectations, but unfortunately our experience was disappointing due to the excessive prices. A 100g pork fillet cost €16, a plate of mixed grilled vegetables €14, two small plates with 6 slices of potatoes per plate €10, three coffees served at the counter and not at the table cost €6, 200g of cantuccini biscuits at €30 per kg at the counter to take away, the service was good and the food was decent, but the price was not justified by the quality. I hope the restaurant can review its prices to offer a more fair experience to customers. Us? …..It will be difficult for us to go back….
