Monument of Avellino catering, perhaps not only.
A location that smells of the real Irpinia: perfect for welcoming foreigners, as well as for making the natives feel at home.
The interior is also beautiful.
The service is the welcoming - but serious - one of an Irpinia tavern: you will be explained what the house offers, and how you can best be satisfied for the occasion.
The menu remains roughly granitic in its proposal strongly linked to the (strong) flavors of the territory, with variations here and there depending on seasonality.
The cuisine is the flagship of the restaurant: preparations that stand out for the quality of the raw materials and the mastery of preparation. The combinations are always successful, even the less obvious ones, the perfect dosages to capture the idea and creativity, especially in the starters. Trying is believing the stuffed melannurch, the meatball with copper onion, and the excellent ravioli with sausage and pumpkin.

We finally managed to eat at "I Santi" you have to book well in advance, but it's worth it!! Excellent welcome, very kind host, intimate environment, slightly revisited traditional Irpinian dishes.

I think it is one of the best restaurants in the area, the kindness, friendliness and above all passion of the owner are alone worth the price of a dinner or lunch.
The typical dishes of the Irpinian tradition are a truly important plus.
The menu has the right variety, but whatever you choose, you can't go wrong.
The prices are also excellent.

I don't remember how I found out about this tavern, the fact is that I thank coincidences or fortuitous circumstances for having brought me to this little pearl in the heart of the historic center of Mercogliano.
Taking advantage of the visit to the Montevergine Sanctuary and the funicular experience, we decide to have lunch in the area.
Access is ONLY by reservation given the size of the place.
We were welcomed by a very kind and hospitable staff who made us sit on the upper floor of a room created from ancient houses, surrounded by stone walls, a fireplace, a wood-burning oven and a wonderful and well-stocked wine cellar.
The presentation of the menu, almost entirely zero km and with seasonal products, is by the owner and chef.
And here is a wonderful platter of hot slow food appetizers, typical Montevergine bread, traditional Irpinian first courses and a perfectly prepared stew, all accompanied by an Aglianico bottled by a nearby local company.
Absolutely HONEST price and a place to return to is a must
