Overall, the food was good and plentiful for the price, but the service was inconsistent and very slow.
At lunchtime, we waited an hour for the appetizer and over another hour for the main course.

A lovely restaurant right under the castle in the center of Ferrara, with a charming and unique atmosphere. If you can, and it's warm, choose an outdoor table. RESERVATIONS are essential, as it's impossible to find a table otherwise. Typical Ferrarese cuisine; we had the pumpkin cappellacci with ragù, with butter and sage, tagliatelle with ragù, and pesto lasagna (the latter not up to the standard of the other dishes). Everything was delicious, and the staff was very friendly. Worth it.

Had lunch on December 30th.
The staff was truly kind and attentive.
A couple of good appetizers with fried gnocco, equally good pumpkin capellacci, and very tasty lamb chops.
Really good desserts.
The only sore point for a nosy Venetian like me is their Pignoletto, which in my opinion is too dull.
The veranda is nice and very clean, but I preferred to eat inside.
I recommend making a reservation.
The bill is fair and honest.

When I was there, I didn't particularly enjoy the experience. They initially seated me inside, even though I wanted to sit outside and there was room. The food took a long time to arrive, which was fine, but the portions were really small for the price. Furthermore, one of the staff members was rude and complained rudely because I was standing waiting for a table, blocking the flow.

Excellent food,
Cappellacci with ragout, pappardelle with hare, Ferrarese pastry, creamed cod with truffle, pinzini appetizers, and excellent cured meats and cheeses... some examples, but the other dishes are also worth trying. Stunning location right in the center with a view of the castle. Friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended.
