Osteria Don Maccarone In Napoli

Salvatore, a pleasant discovery, a guardian of true Neapolitan tradition. Whenever I found myself returning home, if I wanted to be on the safe side, I always opted for the Osteria Gobbetto brothers or the more famous Nennella. Being close to my accommodation, I decided to try Salvatore, and I'm sorry to say, but it exceeded our expectations, so much so that we returned twice in 5 days. There are things that take me back to my grandmother's dishes: parmiggiana and sausage, and broccoli rabe above all. I have to make a noteworthy comment about the Genovese: everyone now has this trend of deglazing the Genovese with red wine. Salvatore, however, doesn't... as tradition has it, he prefers a white Genovese, just drizzled with a few cherry tomatoes. I'm sure the next time I return, it will be difficult to find a table at Salvatore's. ❤️ Keep up the good work.

Superb fried food and delicious pasta, potatoes, and provola. The wines are also exquisite. What makes this place special is the owner's friendliness, and the small, super cozy atmosphere. Thank you.

After traveling miles around Naples, tired and hungry, on December 27th we came across this place almost by chance and, combining some reviews, we went in. The owner, "the grandfather," is an exquisite person, helpful, down-to-earth and very hospitable. There were 2 of us and even though it was peak lunch time, he found us a table right away. We ate pasta and potatoes, Neapolitan scarpariello, meatballs in sauce with house wine, everything was amazing!!! Delicious to the max, my husband and I mopped up all the dishes!!! Bread with a unique flavor and two limoncellos offered by the house. More than fair price 22 euros per person including a bottle of white Falanghina. When we return to Naples I will definitely return!!

A cozy osteria in the heart of Naples. Traditional cuisine and Salvatore, a friendly owner who gave us great recommendations. Everything was delicious and reasonably priced. We ate there twice in October and will definitely return on our next visit to Naples.

I recommend it because the quality of the food is worth it, and despite the queue and the crowds on Sunday (a holiday near the Immaculate Conception), Mariano was truly patient and welcoming. I hope to return during a less crowded time.

The pasta was very good and they were very friendly!
