A mixed review. The risotto was just tomato rice with a few mussels! My pasta with sheep's cheese was good. The desserts redeemed the meal. The service was excellent.

As soon as you step inside, the welcome is warm and sincere. The staff greets you with that Roman touch that's a perfect blend of wit and sacred hospitality. It's not a place for those seeking frills or modern plating; here, substance reigns supreme, pure Roman style. Dinner was a true triumph of tradition. We began, as it should, with the classic fried dishes: the supplì al telefono was perfect, with the stringy mozzarella that "phoned" with every bite, and the artichoke alla giudia, crispy on the outside and tender in the center, fried to perfection. But the real masterpieces were the first courses. As a lover of tradition, I wanted to try the Roman trinity. The Carbonara was a poem: a silky egg custard, without a hint of cream (pure heresy!), crispy guanciale that "sang" in the mouth, and a generous shower of Pecorino Romano DOP. The tonnarelli alla cacio e pepe were creamed to perfection, with that bold character and that aroma of toasted pepper that warms the soul. Not to mention the Amatriciana, with a rich sauce and an enveloping flavor that will compel you to mop up the plate with homemade bread, down to the last millimeter. For main courses, we indulged in the oxtail stew and the saltimbocca alla romana. The oxtail meat was falling off the bone just looking at it, slowly cooked for hours in a celery-scented sauce, just like Roman grandmothers used to do in ancient times. All this was washed down with an excellent foglietta (the typical quarter-liter of wine from the Castelli Romani), served fresh and sincere, which accompanied the dinner divinely. To round things off, a house tiramisu sealed an unforgettable evening. In conclusion: Osteria della Suburra is more than just a restaurant; it's a piece of culinary history that stands the test of time. If you want to understand what it means to truly eat amazingly in Rome, this is the place. The prices are very fair for the quality and location. I will definitely return. In fact, I will leave my heart there! Highly recommended!

I really needed to use the restroom and it was quite crowded, so I went in by chance, but it turns out to be a great restaurant. The pasta is delicious, and the prices aren't bad. The owners are very friendly and speak good English. The atmosphere is nice, the food comes out quickly, and it's the best. I will definitely go again. Also, they have toilet seat covers!

A quiet place for dinner. We were very well attended to by everyone, on a Sunday night. Delicious food, delicious tiramisu! Very good prices. I highly recommend it! I ordered risotto bolognese and my husband had pasta.

The service was extremely slow. We alerted several waiters that we wanted to order or pay, but no one came for ages. The food arrived quickly, was simple and not a large portion, but tasty and acceptable for the price.
