Friendly environment and informal, attentive service. The panissa and vitello tonnato were excellent, but everything we ordered was more than good. I definitely recommend it.

In our search for original, cozy family restaurants during our trip to Piedmont, we ended up at Fabio. What a bull's eye! As an ambassador of the slow food principle, he exceeded our expectations with delicious risotto, gnocchi and wines. To express himself he speaks French, English and 2 words of Flemish 🙂. In short, good food and a warm welcome.
We are fans and will come back!

Nice, nice and welcoming place with very polite and helpful managers... It's a shame about the prices, the lunch menu starts at 18 euros, a starter, first course and dessert... drinks aside, even water from the vending machine at 2 euros a bottle... I would say not exactly cheap. ..

Tricerro is a small village of 700 inhabitants a stone's throw from Vercelli. Going there was like taking a dive into the past because in this slice of the Vercelli countryside it is - in this season - still possible to see flooded rice paddies as far as the eye can see dotted here and there by a farmhouse. Unfortunately, in the Novara countryside the checkered sea is increasingly interrupted by industrial or commercial settlements. This weekend's gastronomic investigation leads us to investigate the Osteria del Vecchio Asilo, a small family-run restaurant with around forty seats. The kitchen opens at 8pm and you are welcomed by the owner: chef Fabio. The place is simple and welcoming. We arrive on an evening in which the national football team is on stage so the only room is almost deserted which we regret for the chef, but which allows us to converse freely with Fabio who inundates us with very useful information on local wines ( of the kingdom of the two Sicilies) of which we thought we knew, but which never more than this evening makes us remember the saying "he who is praised is cheated". We choose the tasting menu: Maritozzo, Tomino Canavesano, aubergine flan, this is the trio of starters followed by the Panissa Vercellese (not to be confused with the Paniscia Novarese) as a first course and the Erbaluce veal underside with potato pie and carrots as a second course. To finish, strawberry and coffee sorbet. Except for the veal rump (just a little dry due to reheating) everything is excellent and the service is impeccable in its sobriety. Spending for 2 including a bottle of Calosso Gambadipernice winery Valter Bosticardo from 2014, €105.00: very honest!

In Tricerro the Osteria del Vecchio Asilo is a "family" place. One of those points that you mark with a pin on the map of your life. Fabio is not a chef, he is a great friend. Luisa, together with her husband's silhouette, is not the dining room manager, but a confidant with whom she can vent her worries and be told: "There are 2 portions of mixed fried food, if you want..." And the caresses on the palate begin and ...to the memories of many breaks at work, which warmed the heart. For gourmets: Fabio's PANISSA is tradition, a story of rice fields, peasant culture, loyalty to the Vercelli land. It is mandatory to book, as long as it is sufficient. Making the choice of the best food care requires limited numbers in a small room. But it is the certainty of top quality. See you next time, dear friends!

Had lunch today to celebrate a birthday. Everything was very good, from the tasting menu courses with an excellent balance of flavours, to the attentive service, to the more than correct bill, to the friendliness of Fabio and his family. To come back and come back, BRAVI!
