Discovered this restaurant by chance. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had gnocco fritto with cured meats (extremely mediocre and very pale), followed by delicious braised beef ravioli and pork ribs with baked potatoes, which were quite good. For all this, we spent €57 for lunch. A bit too much, in our opinion.

The restaurant is well located for reaching the historic center.
Very homey, the service was far too fast, and not very welcoming.
The food was plentiful, but of poor quality, especially the appetizers.
(Onion soaked in vinegar and served raw, when the menu stated "Sweet and Sour Onion."
Raw peppers and veal with garlic were too abundant.)
The sausage rice was too salty.
The main course was perhaps the most popular.
The desserts only make things worse.
I definitely won't be returning and I don't recommend it.

I went to this restaurant for lunch today, Friday. The food was good, except for my rabbit, which was too dry. But what really shocked me was that at 2 pm they unceremoniously asked us to leave because the place was closing. I thought they were joking, because not everyone goes for a business lunch, but for conviviality, but instead we had to leave, quickly downing our coffee.
It's never happened to me, and I go to an average of two restaurants a month. So you have to specify on this site: that one must eat quickly, like in a cafeteria, and small talk is forbidden.
I ordered the à la carte menu, and I spent a good amount per person, but I don't care if the service is adequate. Bad experience! Never again.

Excellent food quality and generous portions. Friendly and professional waiters. Dinner for two, including a sample of Varzi salami, two first courses, two second courses, wine, two desserts, a house liqueur (very good!), and coffee, was definitely not expensive!

I had a wonderful and unforgettable evening.... I'll be back to try the gnocco fritto accompanied by excellent cured meats and Venetian-style liver. The owner and waiters were friendly and very helpful. Congratulations, ❤️.

We felt right at home at Trattoria Povero Lele in Pavia!
