It seems like a hidden gem from the outside and as an unsuspecting tourist, I wondered in without expecting much. The service was good, the recommended wine was tasteful and whole-bodied. Props to them, as I let them choose the wine and they didn't go for the higher end of the menu but rather the lower end.
The appetizers overall were decent, the carpaccio was really good. The pasta, on the other hand, was overly salty for my taste. It was too much for me personally, although I'm sure others prefer it that way. I wouldn't return but wouldn't want to discourage anyone from making your own mind up. It was just not for me.
Reminder for tourists: Italians eat late, don't get here just around opening time. It's too early for the true experience.

Like many others have said, it’s very special here. The owner sits with you and asks “what do you like?” and then customizes a dish and dinner that matches what you want. I’m vegetarian and they have options. We had a great experience, great service and great food. Highly recommend.

We are here last night. It was our first night in Bologna. We walked in unbooked and the host/owner found us a table and sat down with us and explained the food and how his restaurant worked. He suggested we share starters and mains. Starters were beef tartare, various bruschetta and shredded horsemeat with rocket and olive oil. I have been looking forward to coming to Bologna for many years and in one evening I found a place that delivered everything I like about food and atmosphere. Prices were extremely reasonable. Just perfect or should I say ‘Bellissimo’

Highly recommended. Homemade food and unique experience. Also quite cheap. Carpaccio, 3 various focaccias, carbonara and pesto pasta, all for 57 euros.

Really interesting restaurant, where the beardy owner and his huuuuge character comes and sits at the table, takes/decides your order and you're left to enjoy the heaps of good, hearty and relatively cheap food. Definitely recommend to reserve beforehand or show up early and be lucky

Amazing! - Small door on a side street leads to a beautiful intimate restaurant. The owner came to sit & explain the menu, in English with was massively appreciated as our italian is dreadful. Staff were all polite & happy. The food was to die for. Put this place on your must do list!

A truly unique experience, as the owner says: do you think you've entered a restaurant? If you're looking for the label... it's not for you. If you want an illustration of the menu.... ask him and he will tell you: few things, good, particular considering the Bolognese context. Testaroli for example, absolutely worth trying. For those who don't like garlic, it's better to say it first. A really good appetizer with horse meat. The only thing I would highlight more are the prices even if I didn't worry about it too much. Spent 30 euros each including wine. Very easy going but courteous, attentive and friendly service.

Best carpacchio I've had and nevermind the tagliatelle ragu. Outstanding place to eat, if you're ever in Bologna, go here, you won't regret it.
