When you come to the restaurant after shopping🙈 and you come at a time when it is closed, but the restaurant is family-run, it is run by our people, wrestle and when the owner tells you that it is not a problem, he will arrange something, and he will arrange a delicious fish platter for two and treat you to an excellent cod spread. Excellent lunch. The atmosphere is traditional, unique, and welcoming. The staff is helpful and friendly.

We dined at Da Gigi with friends from out of the region, relying on the Guide to Osterie d'Italia, since other Trieste restaurants, recommended by a local, were full, it being a Saturday night. The restaurant has truly beautiful vintage decor, rich in history and meaningful (the wooden fridge is a must!): anyone who criticizes it is better off choosing a trattoria with cold, modern furnishings! The menu is all seafood and is explained verbally by the staff (the host, with a fine physique du role, pops in every now and then to check that everything is running smoothly and to greet the regulars). The dishes are good and plentiful, and the food is easy to digest, served slowly, as per the signs hanging in the dining room. The extra touch comes from the staff: friendly, kind, attentive, and well-prepared, with a touch of Trieste that never hurts, right down to the final offering of Pelinkovac bitters, begging for a lovely evening with friends.

We had dinner here with the family. The food was delicious, all freshly prepared. The fish was incredibly fresh and typical. The staff who served us were simply exquisite, incredibly kind and genuinely friendly. Highly recommended, and compliments to both the owner and the staff. We had a wonderful time. Homely atmosphere, very welcoming, excellent food

I'd been hearing about this historic osteria for a while, and finally had the chance to try it. The atmosphere is immediately familiar, simple, and authentic. The staff is truly kind and professional, attentive without being intrusive. The quality of the fish is undeniably excellent: fresh, well-prepared ingredients. It's no coincidence that we booked well in advance, as the place is always very busy. The only thing that left me perplexed was the prices. Considering it's an osteria, with a deliberately simple and homey atmosphere, the prices are quite high. To give you an idea: a single portion of sea bass with a side of potatoes, which we shared between four of us (so just a taste), cost €60—figures that are hard to find even in mid- to high-end restaurants. In short, if you're looking for a simple and authentic atmosphere, it can be a good choice, but it's worth keeping an eye on the bill. It almost makes you think that, after the closure of some historic restaurants, eating fish in Trieste is becoming a small luxury.

Definitely 5 stars. The staff were kind, polite, friendly, and never intrusive. The food was truly good. No complaints. I'll be back.

The most immediately noticeable feature of this quaint Trieste seafood restaurant is undoubtedly the unique atmosphere, evident in the interiors, which I presume have remained unchanged over the last 40-50 years, dominated by a stunning refrigerator. The dishes are opulent and the food is excellent, but when I was there, perhaps they overdid the scampi, so generous in size that they were reminiscent of frozen products. The creamed cod served with croutons and the fried calamari were excellent. The service is always attentive and attentive. The price is reasonable for the quantity and quality of the food. Parking in the area is not easy.
