Magnificent Venetian osteria, very friendly atmosphere and truly excellent food, with a special mention for the liver which is exceptional.

Very nice ambiance, food was great, try the polenta with fish antipasti. Spaghetti con vongole was delicious, as was ribolla wine.

I was passing through the area and, on the recommendation of an acquaintance, I decided to stop at Alberto's. The location is the first plus: an atmosphere that stands out from the typical tourist traps. The ceiling laden with copper pots and the rustic furnishings create a warm and authentic atmosphere, one that evokes history and the true Venice, far removed from commercial standards. ​The real added value, however, is the customer service. I found the staff extremely kind and helpful, capable of managing the service with a genuine courtesy that makes you feel immediately at ease. In an often chaotic city, finding this kind of human attention is a pleasure. ​As for the cuisine, the experience was positive and genuine. From the cicchetti bar to the spaghetti with clams, to the stewed calamari with polenta, the dishes faithfully reflect local tradition. It's a cuisine with substance, accurate and well-executed, which focuses on the freshness of the raw ingredients without seeking special effects or memorable presentations. Everything was good and honest, exactly what you'd expect from a historic trattoria. ​In short, an excellent stop if you're looking for an unspoiled corner of Venice and a proper welcome. A place where you can feel good and eat just right, perfect for those seeking authenticity without frills.

It's a shame about the missed opportunity: given the reviews, we expected something more.

We visited Osteria da Alberto for dinner. The menu comprises of a wide selection of dishes but limited vegetarian options. Starters were a bit cold when they arrived and disappointingly the bread was not fresh at all. For mains, we really loved the pasta with mussels however the portion was small. The tiramisu was average. Our waitress was a bit rude unfortunately. Prices are expected for Venice. Overall, we would only go again if in need for pasta with mussels.
