Osteria Belvedere Arrosto alla Brace In Matera

I went for lunch and it was a truly special experience. The restaurant is charming, carved into the Sasso, and exudes a unique historical atmosphere. There's also an ancient olive oil mill inside, almost like visiting a museum, which makes it all the more fascinating. We ate grilled meat, which was simply delicious: perfectly cooked and excellent quality. The food overall was exceptional. The staff deserves a special mention: very kind, welcoming, and always available. An experience I highly recommend to anyone visiting Matera.

I used to come to this restaurant every two years or so. I've always considered it a tourist hotspot, but it's a good compromise. Unfortunately, today I was only able to observe inside (due to the lack of price display outside) that the menu has undergone an excessive price increase; there's no entree under €14. I find the menu priced for an empty plate for €1 unfortunate. I had a brief discussion with the manager or owner about the matter. She politely explained the reasons for the price increases. We realized we had different views, and I changed locations where I could enjoy a similarly high-quality meal at a lower price, along with a high-end restaurant setting. From my limited experience in the industry, I would recommend adjusting the offerings to meet demand to best market the excellent cuisine this restaurant offers.

Very good and carefully prepared dishes from the Matera/Lucania tradition, the staff is very friendly yet discreet. Prices are average for Matera for excellent quality food. A beautiful location in a renovated cave with a must-see olive oil mill! Highly recommended!

Very nice restaurant, excellent food, and friendly staff. I was disappointed with the bill for a 1.1 kg grilled heifer steak, which cost €72. I think it was a bit steep. For a restaurant, €75 per person seemed excessive. I would definitely return, but I'd skip the steak, obviously! 😂😂😂

A typical Matera restaurant with a very welcoming atmosphere. The structure is entirely carved out of the rock. Excellent food, but the price is a bit high for the quality. All in all, I recommend it if you have the money.
