Osteria Bastarda Rossa In Arcidosso

I found this osteria simply by searching Google...the positive reviews are hard to beat. Yuri is an excellent host...we ordered classic dishes, but you can immediately taste the quality of the ingredients. The desserts, featuring local delicacies (vecchierella), are excellent. A look around the kitchen reveals a precision and cleanliness far above average. The wine by the glass is also excellent. The prices are more than fair. You'll definitely leave feeling full and with a wonderful taste experience. I'll definitely return and recommend it to friends.

You're greeted with a warm welcome and an impeccable Tuscan accent. The restaurant is nestled in the gorgeous alleys of Arcidosso. The classic, delicious menu reflects tradition, with some dishes featuring subtle twists and seasonal ingredients. Well done, we'll definitely be back.

(Our visit was in May 2026) An intimate, quaint restaurant with limited seating in Arcidosso. Highly recommended! We had a vegetarian appetizer, the pici cacio e pepe with small pears 🍐, and the capocollo with mustard and breadcrumbs. Everything was delicious and the dishes were very well prepared! The owner and the kitchen staff are both delightful. We paid €35 ​​each. Dogs are welcome. If we're in the area again, we'll definitely be back.

Introduction. I usually carry my phone, like the rest of us, to take photos of the dishes or generally to be reachable. Here, by choice, I did the opposite. On Easter Eve and for Easter lunch, I deliberately, on advice, left my phone outside. It turned into an experience, but actually two, in which I truly appreciated the complete package. The location, reached by a few steps, is an old stable. And we could stop there... But the real plus comes from the terrace, from which, in the warm months, we can enjoy truly enviable sunsets. Service. Courteous. Not intrusive. Attentive and affable. By the end of the evening, you'll probably be friends with the head waiter and the chef (the peppery one...that'll tell you who I am 😉) Food. The menu is the same year-round, but it does have some off-menu items that I highly recommend trying. When in doubt, ask the head waiter. But you definitely have to try their Peposo. You'll immediately know you've made the hit of a lifetime. The final touch is a decidedly "hot" house wine. The Montecucco, which, as I've rarely experienced, made me regret not asking for the wine list. A must-see in Arcidosso. But make a reservation... Or you'll be left out (like me on Easter Sunday).

Four of us went yesterday on our way back from a weekend in Val d'Orcia. We called and arrived at 2:00, but they welcomed us without any problems. The food was delicious, especially the pici cacio pepe e pere and the pici con le fava beans. The cured meats and other dishes were also good. We paid about 25 euros per person. The waiters were all very friendly. Recommended. Unfortunately, I didn't take photos of the dishes.
