What a great experience this S Sylvestre dinner was. All-fish menu, excellent, tasty, with a lot of research, strongly inspired by Japan, adapted to the European style thanks to well-balanced marinades. Good service in the room too, Lucia was able to recommend a particularly well-matched white from Veneto. Very pleasant little restaurant away from the herd of tourists. We enjoyed the friendly time around a drink with the Chef and his team to start the new year off right. Well done and thank you!!

When we come to Venice to visit our son Giovanni, who lives and works there, we almost never miss an evening at the Osteria al Cantinon. We returned for dinner on December 28th and as usual it was a confirmation: impeccable service, always a very pleasant and well looked after environment. Spectacular cuisine, well done, keep it up.

Osteria Al Cantinon is a great little place with a good menu and very friendly staff. I highly recommend the house red. It was delicious!!! I had the Home made Tagliatelle with knife-cut steak ragout and my husband had Mixed fried fish and vegetables. Both excellent!!

Casi todos los turistas que han caminado desde la estación de tren hasta el Rialto habrán pasado cerca de Osteria al Cantinon. Como se encuentra a pocos metros de la ruta principal a pie, (en una tranquila Fondamenta) , la mayoría pasará por allí y no se dará cuenta de este excelente establecimiento. Solo descubrimos su existencia a partir de la lista de la principal guía alimentaria de Italia. Entonces, ¿merece los grandes elogios del guía? Ciertamente lo hace - con facilidad.
El entrante de vieira que mi esposa comió era perfecto, pero fue golpeado (IMHO) por mi “huevo suave y crujiente” en un suflé de verduras con crema parmesana - eso fue simplemente impresionante. Los espaguetis de remolacha de mi esposa fueron igualmente impresionantes, al igual que mi hígado veneciano (definitivamente el mejor ejemplo de este clásico que he comido). El sabor de la polenta que la acompaña (un sabor muy neutro) se levantó con un toque de eneldo. Los postres eran de los mismos altos estándares y el servicio simplemente impecable. No “rígido” o formal, simplemente perfecto.
Ese delicioso almuerzo acaba de vencer a otro restaurante nuevo que visitamos (también en la guía) para la mejor comida de este viaje. Volveremos en mayo de 2025 , eso es seguro.

Lovely restaurant by the canal, tucked away from the tourist zones. It was recommended by our Airbnb host, and we booked in advance for a Saturday night in mid November.
We started with the beef tartare, served with an egg on top. For mains, we had the veal liver " alla veneziana" dish, small tender pieces of beautifully cooked liver on top of polenta, and the black cuttlefish spaghetti. We paired these with the house red wine. With its cosy and welcoming ambience, friendly staff, and delicious food, we had an overall great experience at the osteria.

Just delightful- there are a few tables outside by a quiet canal so you are away from the crowds. The food is inventive and beautifully prepared. The staff were kind. If you want wines by the glass, just ask them and they’ll help you choose good pairings- they aren’t listed on the menu. I had zucchini flowers stuffed with a fish/potato concoction and fried which were a different twist on the usual and very good. Also squid ink spaghetti- love those! Again, creative and yummy. Can’t wait to go again- hard to find good food and a pleasant setting in a tourist place like Venice. Recommend reserving which you can do through their website.
