Osteria Ae Cravate In Venezia

We went for dinner based on a recommendation and reservation from the hotel upon arriving in Venice... But when we arrived and tried to tell the waiter we had a reservation, he rather curtly told us to wait and seated us at a table without giving us a chance to say anything. We ordered an appetizer, a couple of main courses, a dessert, wine, and water. The appetizer, although the cheeses were good, I was expecting something more elaborate than wedges of cheese on a tray with a little honey (the flavor was surprising; I'd never had it like that). The pasta was spectacular; the egg carbonara was amazing. The lasagna Bolognese was the best I'd ever tasted, perfectly al dente. Wonderful. The tiramisu was also very good. As for the wine, we wanted to order a rosé, but he said they didn't have that one and offered us another (red) from the same winery, €10 more expensive. And the water? Well, just a bottle of water, nothing more. Judging by the place's appearance, I expected something cheaper; in fact, the corner in the photos doesn't match the rest of the restaurant at all. Like I said, not much, but I expected something more affordable, even in Venice. I suppose you pay for being close to the hotel and being more or less central and by the river. The waiter (or owner) was super friendly from the start, making an effort to speak to us in Spanish, although halfway through dinner, we got the impression that he had a bit of a rough night and seemed a bit more distant/grudging. We think it was because closing time was approaching and the place was full. Out of ignorance, we left a very generous tip, and it seemed to cheer him up somewhat. Recommended with a reservation, knowing what you're going to order and pay. For us, ae caravte was ae clavada (a rip-off).

This is a must-see in Venice; my daughter and I loved it, and the staff were very polite. The atmosphere was very cheerful – simply a 10/10! The manager and staff are very child-friendly, thank you! 😊

The food was excellent, however, there were some discrepancies on the bill, which were corrected as soon as payment was made. We still felt a bit like we were being gently ripped off by a waiter (or perhaps the owner?) who was pushing us to order more, suggesting wines not listed on the menu or charging for appetizers twice. It's a shame; I thought these practices had disappeared. We will return to Venice, but not to this restaurant, which is otherwise very good and doesn't need such practices.

Excellent! Adriano was kind enough to serve us, and we can only offer him praise for his service. The food was simply amazing, with excellent flavor.

The place is very cozy, clean, delicious, and the waiter was very friendly; he immediately answered all our questions with a smile.

Very good food, friendly, attentive service, and a pleasant atmosphere. It's a shame the wine isn't available by the glass. Prices are a bit high.

It was delicious, we ate carbonara and lasagna and we loved it.

We thoroughly enjoyed the daily specials. The welcome from the manager and waiters was friendly. Just a little cold because the door was left open.

This restaurant, just steps from our hotel, was a surprising discovery. The staff was incredibly kind and attentive to our large group of twenty. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was family-friendly. We'll definitely be back.

Was searching for some great pasta places online and this come up. It completely lived up to the hype, had some amazing pasta and Tiramisu! Also, the all the staff there is really friendly, loved talking to Rajan.
