Osteria A La Carega In Verona

A small osteria in the center of Verona. A friendly and welcoming atmosphere. A few traditional Veronese dishes. The charcuterie and cheese platter is excellent. Their various meatballs are unique and delicious.

The food was delicious, the glasses and cups could have been a bit cleaner, but it's highly recommended.

We went for dinner on a Sunday morning, precisely because I'd been there before with friends and had a great time. But what shocked me was their behavior on a rainy morning. I had made a reservation and they had informed me that there was only outdoor seating; in case of rain, we wouldn't be able to come in because it was already full, so I accepted. After ordering, although there were umbrella stands outside, there were no umbrellas set up, only one open. When the dishes arrived, the usual luck began to rain: we were completely uncovered, plates in hand, glasses in hand, and we took refuge alone under the only open umbrella, without anyone indicating a temporary shelter. They didn't lift a finger, even to accommodate us at the bar! And more importantly, they didn't even try to open the other umbrellas. I paid my full price, and they didn't flinch. I think they have a lot to learn about hospitality.

I visited this place after seeing it featured on Japanese TV. The atmosphere, service, and food were all excellent. On my second visit, a Saturday lunchtime, it was incredibly lively with tourists and what seemed like local regulars. The combination of almond pastries and grappa I ordered for dessert was superb.

We stopped here for a Spritz; it was delicious, the atmosphere was lovely, the service was super friendly, and the price was fair (€5). It's not too touristy and definitely worth the detour.

The service was very friendly. While the food selection was limited, the quality was excellent. The wine was also very good. Overall, the restaurant offered good value for money.

We were delighted by both the simple and welcoming atmosphere, and by the delicious local dishes we chose on the advice of our table neighbors: baccalà (cold cod on a bed of hot polenta – a must-try!) and eggplant parmesan. A truly excellent place, authentic and frequented by a mix of tourists and locals.

We also enjoyed a meat polpetta and zucchini fritter served in cinchetti. A truly wonderful and authentic place frequented mainly by locals.

We often come back to this place for aperitivo. We love it. The staff is friendly and always available, and they make you feel right at home. We always order their horse meatballs as an aperitivo, and they're delicious. The only downside is that the prices have gone up. Paying €20 for three glasses of prosecco, a spritz, and two meatballs seems a lot to me.

The food at this inn is fantastic—super homemade and local. The atmosphere is great, and the service is wonderful. We'll be back!
