Ostaria Nova In Este

One Saturday in January, we had lunch at Ostaria Nova in Este, located slightly outside the centre, with convenient parking nearby. The restaurant is accessed via a veranda, used in summer to host outdoor tables. The interior is welcoming and has a family atmosphere, with wooden tables set with paper placemats and the essentials. The place is small, so booking is recommended. The menu includes a maximum of fifteen traditional local dishes. We enjoyed some pappardelle with musso creamed with Parmigiano Reggiano: the fresh homemade pasta was perfectly blended and the donkey meat, very tender and cooked to perfection, completed the dish with a balanced flavour. As a second course, we chose the pork cheek braised in red wine with grilled polenta: the meat was extraordinarily soft and the flavor surprising, a perfect balance between meat and spices. The restaurant offers a wide selection of wines and the service was quick, with the staff courteous and knowledgeable. To conclude, we let ourselves be tempted by apple fritters and a very particular and tasty tiramisu served by the slice. If you find yourself in Este, Ostaria Nova is a highly recommended place for those who want to savor excellent dishes in a truly familiar environment.

Simple place, but very welcoming and well-kept. The service is great and the staff are really friendly and attentive to detail. It is the ideal place to eat typical Venetian dishes, with excellent home-made cuisine that includes homemade pasta, desserts and bread (served hot). Advised!!

In a little-frequented side street there is Osteria Nuova, hidden but as soon as you enter it has a homely atmosphere, not many tables which makes it more familiar. A menu with local foods (bigoli with duck ragù which I recommend) but also innovative, but tried the chicory cooked with burrata and anchovies which I highly recommend. Not least the choice of simple but excellent foods. If you are in Este I recommend the stop.

Osteria with kitchen, friends and I spent an evening tasting wine and cotechino. Overall positive.

Excellent cuisine, place in need of improvement, excessively high prices (including wine). Sin!

We went to this tavern in the summer on a Monday evening and really enjoyed the fish-based dishes (Venetian trio, spaghetti with anchovies and lemon and seafood salad). We returned on a Sunday for lunch in autumn and discovered that the Sunday menu was smaller than the one on the website, and we were a little disappointed because it hadn't been reported to us on the phone anyway. Furthermore, we saw a poor selection of vegetarian dishes (pumpkin in saor as a starter and a first course based on gorgonzola and radicchio). When asked for alternatives, we were offered what we eventually discovered to be a plate of 4 side dishes costing €20, which in my opinion was a little too expensive. Furthermore, we were offered a wine without telling us the price, which was also discovered during the payment phase. The other two sore points: they don't have beer because according to them it doesn't go in winter and the dessert service (brought from a pastry shop) at the price of €1.50 per person. Positive notes: the dishes are good and tasty, and the quantities are generous, in line with the prices.
