Un "vorrei, ma non posso". The food was good, but less than expected for a 80 euro degustation menu. Two of the 6 courses were exceptional (the dessert and one pasta), but the overall combination of tastes was weird as they were too disconnected from one dish to the next.

Great food, friendly and attentive service; they accommodated our special requests, and we felt very welcome.
The Bolognese and the Parmesan Tortellini are second to none.

The servers responded well to our requests.
One minor drawback: the courses seemed to come out rather quickly, in our opinion.

It's been a long time since I've been this excited.
I chose the "Traditional" menu and it was a wonderful experience.
The staff was extremely kind and engaging.
If you're in Bologna, you can't miss it.

A very elegant restaurant, impeccable service, and the owner is very attentive to the customer's well-being. The food is delicate and hearty, with truly exquisite flavors. If you're hungry, I recommend the cutlet, which is very good and different from what you'll find elsewhere, and the portion is very generous.
I wholeheartedly recommend it.

The dining experience was not quite what we had expected beforehand.
The restaurant isn't very atmospheric with the table lamps, and it got darker and darker as time went on. More and more lights went out, and we got the impression that we were being told to leave.
Although the service was friendly, we didn't get the impression that they were trying to sell us anything. After we ordered a primi and a selection of pastas, we were given the dessert menu. The pastas were tasty. We ordered the picanha; the waiter had to check with the kitchen if it was still possible. It just barely was.
The food was fine, but for this price, you expect some service and atmosphere.
I gave it 2.5 stars.

We went to Oltre on our last evening in Bologna because we wanted to treat ourselves. We enjoy eating out and appreciate good wine.
Unfortunately, we were rather disappointed. The service was friendly, but somewhat distant and cold. We had to pour our own wine, and the cutlery was in a box, like at a party buffet. The ambiance takes some getting used to. There's no general lighting, only table lamps, which were unfortunately blinding. Since not all the tables were occupied, and the table lamps were only on at the occupied tables, the restaurant was very dark. The decor was also poorly chosen: brown on brown with no light, no flowers, no candles, no linens.
On the other hand, the cutlery and napkins were tastefully selected.
The menu was clumsily put together, lacking finesse, and the food was too heavy and, in some parts, too salty. Two consecutive pasta courses are unusual, and the desserts were rather rich, salty, and didn't provide a satisfying finale.
The meat skewers were topped with strips of raw green bell pepper. The overall concept of the menu was unclear.
It's a shame, there are so many great restaurants in Bologna. This one doesn't live up to its promise.

We went there last night for the set menu with wine pairing. We were initially greeted warmly, but then the service deteriorated significantly. The waiters only spoke the bare minimum, offering no explanations about the food or even a bit of information about the wine, as one would expect from a proper dining experience. Truly poor service! We were only told which dish was in front of us and the name and vintage of the wine. We couldn't understand half of that because they were speaking so quietly. At these prices, one expects more, and we've certainly experienced much better.
The food was tasty, but everything was very salty, and the beef was tough and covered in fat and sinew.
All in all, a disappointing evening for us. Anyone looking for a genuine dining experience where they actually learn something about the food and wine should look elsewhere. What a shame!
How this restaurant can be considered a Michelin-starred establishment is beyond me. It's far from being a good restaurant in its own right.
