24/02/2024: What a meal!!!! An explosion of flavors and delicacies masterfully cooked like in the past. I had the feeling of having dinner at my grandmother's house again. It's been years since I ate with such gusto and pleasure. Impeccable service and courtesy.
13/01/2024: "Once upon a time" and luckily there still is! Forget the hysterical hipsterism of contemporary restaurants, characterized by black nitrile gloves, Iberian accents and chic dishes served while pretending to be peasants. No design, no QR code, no well-groomed beard. A shy sign, five tables, a man and a woman who have seen many springs, and a bare room with an open kitchen.
You can enter at any time and are rightly asphalted by the owner if you ask: "Are you open?". If you came in it's because it's open, right? The lady points to a spartan table, we sit down and find a simple menu that nevertheless challenges the sharpest minds with hidden optimization problems. Chickpeas, lentils and tongue, three dishes you wouldn't have imagined ordering, not in December and not in Sortino. Very decent portions and impeccable quality, certainly thanks to the secret ingredients produced by the lady. I say one, "love", a name with which he will often address his guests.
Between a spoonful and a trip to the Sicilian fields of the 1930s, you find yourself with oranges on the table and a subliminal invitation to eat more dried fruit, nuts specifically. The house red wine shatters every barrier and when asking for desserts you are made fun of and then honored with pastries and chocolates. But not after a life lesson on the now rare ability to be satisfied. Salty, bitter, sweet: you can't have it all. Or maybe yes, but at what cost? Certainly a much higher price than that of this almost dreamlike experience, which is accessible to all budgets, even (and above all) those that do not contain an Amex.
