We had the chance to spend New Year's Eve on 12/31 in this establishment while we were passing through Syracuse, in the middle of a room full of locals, which is a good sign.
Chef Giovanni delighted us, in a friendly and warm atmosphere.
He came regularly during the evening to check that everything was going well.
The cuisine was typically Sicilian with all the markers (pistachio, octopus, tuna, swordfish, fresh shrimp, risotto, ravioli and tiramisu) washed down by a delicious Sicilian white wine to finish with the famous prosecco.
The room is pleasant, on a human scale.
The service was discreet and efficient.

Super pleasant, authentic family business. We had the grilled fish plate and Zuppe di Cozze and lime sorbet for dessert. It really tasted perfect. The plates could have been put back on the shelf straight away, thanks to the bread ;)
PS: And thank you again for the t-shirt. I will wear it next time I visit :)

Nostos Bistrot prepared the BEST food we had on our Italian holiday. The size of the restaurant is perfect, the atmosphere charming. The service was attentive and not overbearing. The food was OUTSTANDING, especially the Zuppe di cozze alla Siracusana (wanted to lick the bowl it was that good), caponata Siciliana, and the Pasta alla Norma, but not Normal. Relatively inexpensive. 100% recommended.

The food was exceptional, especially the Syracusan mussel soups (I wanted to lick the bowl because it was so good), Sicilian caponata, and pasta alla Norma, but not normal. Relatively cheap. 100% recommended.

I visited in mid December when the town is very quiet. I had a great dinner and conversation with the chef/owner. Fish of the day with orange sauce and vegetables was great — light and tasty. I had special rice balls, small with squid. Followed by mini cannoli and hosue desert wine. Small street above the temple and not on the main alleyways. Worth finding this place. They also have homemade pasta.

Beware of foreign run tourist traps!!
Edit: do not go here if you want an authentic Sicilian food. This place is operated and food is made by non locals. The food is barely a 3 star; not surprisingly, after sharing my honest feedback (as seen below) the owner attacked me which is also a non Italian attitude.

We booked intrigued by the name Nostos which evokes the classic theme of the epic hero who returns... fully satisfied with our choice. Congratulations to Chef Giovanni!!! Simple dishes with careful presentation, fresh raw materials selected with care, kindness and friendliness. Delicious assorted arancini, superb stuffed anchovies. Exceptional caponata. The food was great! Ravioli with citrus, almond pesto and sea bream was very well balanced, flavourful and perfectly cooked. Mussels soup tasted great as well. For dessert, both the pistacchio parfait and cannolini were very tasty as well.
