Grandma Rosa moves me every time, because I feel like a child again when I accompanied Dad Nicola to the fishmonger's. I remember a kind of childlike happiness. Her joke was always the same: 'Only what you see'? This phrase was a sort of sesame seed! The fishmonger would go to the back and immediately display a crate with the best catch of the night. I smiled every time, happy and incredulous at the same time. I still wonder today what this statement could have evoked in the eyes of the owner?! I'm sitting here today at the Nonna Rosa restaurant in Muro Leccese. And I always ask myself the same thing. Why does this place bring back memories? Why? Perhaps it's Claudia's cheerful smile, reassuring and friendly? Or the simplicity of the dishes, anything but banal? The pervasive calm that prepares the palate? The food was simply fantastic: everything was incredibly fresh, of the highest quality, and prepared with so much passion that every bite was a little celebration. The harmony of flavors was particularly impressive – you can taste that only the finest ingredients are used here and that the chefs have mastered their craft to perfection. The place is truly enchanting. It's a shame, however, that of the two Gallipoli oysters we had—very good—one was practically empty (given the cost and weight, I wouldn't have served it), and that the cuttlefish and fried fish included in the appetizer were at times rubbery. The lobster bavette was commendable. They could have done better. Overall, a pleasant evening, but I wouldn't repeat it.

A great experience. We came on July 13th, a day of celebrations in the village. The restaurant is ideally located. We received a wonderful welcome, in French, from one of the servers. The rest of the team was very pleasant. The only downside was the wait between the main course and dessert; it was a bit busier at that time. Otherwise, the outdoor courtyard is superb, and of course, the food is also superb, with fresh fish presented to us before we chose our menu. There's a wide selection of wines, and we fell in love with the Graticciaia :)
