I can't recommend this family-run restaurant in the heart of Ortona, housed in a historic building. We loved the service, the hospitality (which even extended to our two four-legged "beasts"), and the excellent food, both for the quality of the ingredients and the original, impeccable execution: everything was delicious, from the appetizer to the amaro, strictly local and artisanal. Special mention for: smoked tuna prosciutto and winter melon with orange oil; octopus and arugula soppressata; gnocchi with white bluefish ragù and crusco peppers; seafood chitarra pasta; and fish soup (the likes of which are hard to find these days). The wine selection and typical local dry desserts were also excellent. A ♥️ place.

The owner is a gentleman. He has the bearing and manner of a prince. Excellent food, a historic restaurant on the coast. Everything perfect!

03/05/2026: 5 stars because 6 isn't possible. Quality and courtesy. Fried calamari and mixed fried fish were excellent, plentiful, dry, and crispy. Seafood salad marinated to perfection. Excellent value for money.
18/04/2026: When coming to Italy, most of us just want to skip the tourist spots and eat exactly how the locals do. This place nails it 100 out of 100. It’s a spotlessly clean fish shop with unbelievably fresh seafood. Honestly, the food they cook here is so much better than what you get in expensive restaurants — there is just no comparison. You eat here and feel like you belong.

25/05/2026: From the phone call to make the reservation to the end of the meal, I can say this experience was unique. This trabocco seats a maximum of 10 people and is open by reservation only, which is why the quality of the food is excellent. The menu, thanks to its authenticity, changes daily based on the catch. We ate several appetizers, both hot and cold (the squid with chickpea cream was amazing), a first course and a second course (a spectacular sea bream steak), and dessert to finish. The meal lasted over 3 hours, especially considering the express dishes. Outwardly gruff, but in reality a whimsical entertainer, Mario is a skilled host who pays attention to his guests. His hospitality, combined with the "home" cooking (truly open to the public!) and the undisputed quality of the ingredients, make this a must-visit for seafood lovers and tasting menus. Saved to favorites.
21/05/2026: What an experience! The location is fabulous, what a spectacle! It overlooks a beautiful beach with both the Maiella and Gran Sasso mountains in the background. The limited seating allows for both the attention to detail and the service. Mario is the soul of the trabocco and a wealth of information. He's a great entertainer and truly friendly and helpful. The heart of the trabocco is in the kitchen, and they truly work hard to satisfy their guests with excellently prepared and delicious dishes. You should set aside at least three hours for the experience, and it's best to arrive on an empty stomach. It's definitely worth it.
