We booked Matae after being let down at the last minute by another restaurant .... and I'm really glad we did! This is the best restaurant in Monopoli! We had the 4-course taster menu, which was absolutely delicious and great value for money. The team at Matae are friendly and attentive and are super knowledable about wine pairing. This is an absolute must visit if you're heading to Monopoli.

Chef Massimo took care of us and gave us an absolutely amazing meal and experience. Not a lot of people on Monday night, but speaking with him throughout, taking his recommendations, it was all perfect.

23/06/2026: This is a historic rotisserie, the food is excellent, but I want to focus on the kindness. We arrived almost at closing time, and there was practically nothing to eat, so we made do. The staff, despite being tired, were very kind and welcoming.
