Merlo In Bologna

Our lunch at Trattoria Casa Merlò was excellent. The restaurant offers the possibility of trying a 5-course tasting menu for €40. We preferred to opt for dishes chosen from the à la carte menu for a question of timing as we had booked for the 2.30pm shift and with the tasting menu we would have been a little late (both us and the restaurant staff). To start, we chose three sharing appetizers: friggione, potato and mortadella flan, and tacos with pulled pork. Afterwards we then had a first course each, trying the delicious purple truffle tortellini, the vodka wheels (very tasty and with a slightly spicy touch) and the classic tagliatelle with meat sauce. To end lunch with a touch of sweetness, we wanted to try their trifle and the tenerina cake with mascarpone cream. The service was fast and courteous, the place was nice and welcoming, in general we had a very good time.

Great atmosphere and very helpful staff. Delicious traditional dishes, but also some with an interesting twist. Really comfortable spacious tables -fit lots of great food and drink and don't feel crowded. Would highly recommend.

My husband and I had a really delicious experience at Casa Merlò. Everything we ordered was really good, especially the brasato di cervo and the tortellini al tartufo e porcini. Desserts were really yummy too. The wine list is huge, most of them quite expensive. We went for a cheaper, local wine which was also really nice.

had lunch here in March 2025. the service is very attentive and above all extremely helpful. one of the dishes did not arrive precisely with the rest and the host was worried without us asking to go to the kitchen to hurry. I was with my mother, a very DOC Bolognese. except for a minimal comment on the thickness of the pastry discussed with a smile with the host, he approved across the board. lasagna and ragù are impeccable. the zuppa inglese is something extraordinary. really very good

I’ve just had a fantastic experience at this lovely trattoria. I’ve decided to go with a set tasting menu to ensure I try as many dishes as possible The great concept is to allow the customer to choose 2 antipasti (I chose potato and mortadella flan; beef and chicken with a Russian salad and broth on a side), 1 primi (tortelini in broth), 1 secondi (braised cheek with mashed potatoes) and 1 dolce (zuppa inglese). ALL dishes were absolutely scrumptious, absolutely nothing to fault! Compliments to the chef! I also thought it was quite reasonably priced for the amount and the quality of food, at just 45 Eur. The atmosphere is relaxed and service is wonderful. I was helped by two stuff who were friendly, always around when something is needed, but not overbearing. And the host of the house (I think his name is Marco) is a delightful chap. I’d highly recommend this trattoria without any hesitation. PS. I wish I’d taken pics…

Fine but underwhelming. You can give this a skip and go to a hole in the wall where the food is better (although I may have ordered the wrong thing - ragú was fine but nothing to remember, mortadella flan wasn’t to my taste but maybe others would like it).

Rivisitare la cucina tipica bolognese valorizzandone i punti di forza ma trovando una chiave interpretativa nuova. L'esempio lampante sono i Purple truffle, dei tortellini viola appoggiati su una crema deliziosa con sopra del crumble. Ottimo anche il tortino alla mortadella. Ampia scelta di vini. Un accenno all' arredamento molto particolare, che rispecchia la tendenza all'innovazione.

Sono rimasto deluso da questo posto onestamente Due antipasti e due primi senza vino.. totale 67 euro.. che uno dice.. se la qualità è alta ci sta Ma per dire.. le lasagne i tortelloni li abbiamo trovati davvero sotto la media che si può trovare a Bologna .. davvero un peccato per quel prezzo Un’altra nota un po’ così.. servizio davvero freddo ed impersonale.. che secondo me in posti come questo dovrebbe essere importante e messo in risalto
