A wonderful experience at MEC, from the moment we arrived, till when we left.
A warm and friendly welcome, we were shown to our table and offered an explanation of the menu. A discrete entrance to the building, opposite the beautiful historic buildings of Palermo.
The restaurant is in an Apple museum, which is a little strange as it's got nothing to do with the food, city or culture. I'm not sure the relevance and don't think it adds anything to the experience.
The service was attentive, professional and friendly at all times which was excellent.
We opted for the tasting menu, and they allowed us to have 1 vegetarian and 1 meat menu which is usually against the norm.
The appetisers and bread was interesting, and each course was explained and unique in it's own way. The wine menu was extensive, and reasonably priced, so we went with a recommendation rather than opting for the wine pairing.
Everything was excellent. Amazing flavour, well seasoned and different. The vegetarian Wellington was the best we've ever tasted, pasta was amazing and everything accompanying.
Overall, whilst it was expensive, and not exactly traditional local food, the produce was of very high quality, unique and highly recommended.

The experience at this restaurant was, overall, underwhelming — especially given the high expectations and premium price point.
The concept is introduced as a tribute to Steve Jobs, briefly mentioned upon arrival. However, the idea isn’t explored or referenced again throughout the evening. This left us puzzled, as the theme didn’t reflect in the atmosphere, service, or storytelling in any meaningful way.
The wine list is extensive — in fact, a bit overwhelming. We were presented with a very thick catalogue, and when we asked for assistance, the guidance felt limited. We found ourselves having to lead the conversation and ask very specific questions to find a wine that suited our preferences. At this level, we expected more proactive and personalized recommendations.
We opted for the tasting menu, which seemed promising. While the presentation of the dishes was striking, the flavors often didn’t live up to the visual appeal. Some courses lacked depth, and overall, the selection didn’t quite align with our palate.
On a positive note, the service was courteous and attentive throughout the evening.
It wasn’t a bad experience, but it fell short of the standard we anticipated — especially for a restaurant with such a strong concept and pricing to match.
We had a pleasant evening at MEC Palermo, where the service was undoubtedly the highlight. Special thanks to Gaspare, whose warm and attentive approach made us feel truly welcomed and well looked after throughout the night. While the tasting menu didn’t fully meet our expectations in terms of flavor, the professionalism and hospitality of the staff left a lasting impression. For those who appreciate exceptional service in a refined setting, MEC is certainly worth a visit.

It was last year August that I visited Mec. Almost a year after, it remains vividly in my memory, enough to visit Palermo again just to experience dining there one more time.
I visited a lot of restaurants like Mec. Mostly their excellence lies in some form of experimentation, use of unique ingredients etc.
Mec is different. They do exactly what you know from daily food, but to a level of excellence that would redefine your taste horizons.
A simple loaf of bread, a pasta dish, a cheese plate, a salad… Even in its most classical form, it becomes culinary art here.
Most restaurants have their strengths and weaknesses. Either menu harmony or drink pairings or service… Something won’t match up to the rest.
I can name many strengths but can’t name an obvious weakness for Mec. Their sommelier is attentive and absolutely excellent with pairings (He is one of the main reasons we remember Mec so vividly) Their staff is diligent in their service. The cheese plate offered is exquisite. The courses are not just excellent themselves but also flow smoothly through flavour profiles, creating a harmony across the menu. And the chef has a wide range of flavours they masterfully execute, rather than a comfort zone. No other place has presented me with a dinner so excellent in every aspect.
Mec remains, and very well might forever remain, the best dining experience I have ever had. One day I will return to celebrate a special moment in my life, knowing Mec will make it even more memorable.

En todos los niveles esta experiencia fue una sorpresa inesperada. Entrar en el edificio histórico y luego ver la presentación histórica de Steve Jobs fue divergente. Fuimos amablemente recibidos y sentados con toda la amabilidad que uno podría esperar de una experiencia gastronómica elegante. Se agradeció la profesionalidad y apertura del personal, así como su sorpresa de que los niños de 11 y 8 años participaran en el menú degustación completo. Nuestros jóvenes dirían que esta cena fue una explosión de sabores increíbles y casi demasiado artística para comer. La comida era sólo eso. La ginebra / ostra / risotto fue un ejemplo de un matrimonio que resultó en algo simplemente increíble. Optamos por el champán y más tarde una copa de vino que era un maridaje perfecto. Ven con la mente abierta, y te irás con una experiencia memorable. Al mirar hacia atrás diría que la atención del equipo hizo que la cena fuera un placer.

Siamo ritornati dopo 2 anni per provare i nuovi menù degustazione e possiamo confermare nuovamente la scelta.
Posto sofisticato e atmosfera elegante, personale qualificato e attento che accompagna la cena e guida sapientemente nelle scelte. Ogni piatto un’opera d’arte con diversi richiami alla tradizione siciliano-palermitana. I sapori ricercati e gli accostamenti particolari confermano l’eccellenza dello chef stellato. Ottimi suggerimenti sui calici del vino da abbinare alle portate.
Tra le novità la degustazione dei formaggi (una vera chicca), il servizio crep flambé e tra una portata e l’altra piccoli riferimenti al mondo apple.
Insomma tutto è stato perfetto. Il posto si riconferma ideale per occasioni e ricorrenze personali o semplicemente per coccolarsi ogni tanto con un’esperienza gustosa e lussuosa. Torneremo sicuramente!
