Every time I go to Materia I'm happy. Well yes: I love eating and having a restaurant so close to home fills me with joy, especially for business lunches, which are not very "demanding" where with an absolutely reasonable amount you can afford to have lunch in a starred restaurant. The new location is particularly intriguing and inviting and today, for the first time thanks to the school holidays, I brought my little girl who I am trying to accustom more and more to the journeys of taste. Today the menu offered risotto with green bean and tarragon cream, pasta ditalini with venison ragout, chicken leg on a bed of polenta and mussel and cherry tomato stew. The marrow and saffron are inevitable. My daughter was also very satisfied with the menu where, however, the flavors offered can be difficult for the little ones. It was an excellent value for the experience. Service was excellent. We went with the chef choice 5 course. Myself I had the full course. Not every dish was to my flavor palette but they were all creative and delicious. I did the saffron risotto and the bite sized introductory course because they were designed to be consumed linearly.

Delicious food, friendly staff, welcoming place, the only thing I didn't like was the price of the coffee, it's right to charge dearly for the dishes created by the chef, but the coffee must cost 1.20 like all bars because it's not their creation, I'm disappointed about it.

A fantastic restaurant, penalized only by the location, which is absolutely unsuitable.
I tried the vegi menu and found it amazing.
I hope that the next location is more in line with the culinary offering and the service, which are TOP.
If it were on the lake shore, it would have no comparison on the entire Lario.

Business lunch with colleagues, very attentive service and attention to the customer. We ate two courses, both very tasty and interesting. I had a stew of mussels with cherry tomatoes. The mussels were very tasty, the sauce intense and tasty and the croutons well toasted and crunchy. As a first course, a cod ragù, a strong flavor with properly cooked and perfectly blended cod. Pasta al dente just right.

So… With a bunch of Michelin-starred places visited around the world I have to concude that this one I wouldn’t really recommend to everyone I know. Only to those who go to Michelin-starred places and want to visit all of them.
I noticed that most attention is paid to people ordering sets, which is not really fair. The wine selection is a nice one, with a focus on biodynamic, natural or rare wines. By-glass Sauvignon is not for everyone, it will have a different taste. I am in wine industry so to me it was understandable as a wine.
The food was great, but great as experimental. The pigeon is served not fully cooked and even me loving pigeons…I couldn’t eat it. Fresh bird meat is a bit too much.
The sweet compliment they bring in the end is delicious. We took it home and enjoyed every single piece.

Anonimato all’ingresso e nelle due sale di rappresentanza: si crea un insolito straniamento poetico che può essere follia o grande delusione. In effetti l’ambiente è in fase di cambiamento, e qualche centinaio di metri più in là sorgerà la nuova Materia. La familiarità del servizio è cordiale senza manierismi, il percorso a sorpresa tra 5 e 7 portate è l’estro dello chef che fa la differenza. Davide Caranchini gioca sui contrasti delle materie prime, nelle variazioni di consistenza, attraverso la disidratazione dell’elemento stesso. Lo strazio è divenire, ne nasce divertimento ed una sensazione di insolita ebbrezza. Infine tutto prende una forma definita, e la squadra mostra una direzione chiara. Ci sono elementi di troppo, ma non guastano.

Excellent single seafood dish, definitely appreciate the vegetable options.
Good service and prices, however, affordable.
Sore point: the place is a little left to itself, but it still has a Michelin star.

Ci siamo recati in questo famoso ristorante a cena.
Abbiamo optato per la degustazione a sorpresa di 7 portate, che dire: abbinamenti al limite, un percorso fatto di grandi emozioni, con un filo conduttore comune che traccia un percorso molto interessante all'insegna del gusto. Non posso esprimere un piatto migliore di altri perchè non ho proprio trovato nessun difetto in particolare ed ognuno faceva parte di un filo logico in un altalena di sapori ben congegnata. L'abbinamento vini, che spazia brillantemente da un piatto all'altro, è una cassa di risonanza davvero notevole perchè tende ad esaltare i sapori.
Il locale è spazioso, i tavoli sono abbastanza ravvicinati ma l'acustica è buona, questo aspetto non ci ha creato particolari problemi.
Servizio impeccabile, disponibile alle domande e alle battute scherzose, senza troppa formalità, come avevo notato anche in altri posti di questo livello.
Davvero una bella esperienza, peccato che sia finita in un batter d'occhio. Consigliatissimo.
