A small, welcoming bistro. The staff is courteous, knowledgeable, and attentive. The open-plan dining room features an open kitchen and a great atmosphere. We ordered almost the entire menu, sharing each dish: pure joy and surprise in every bite. A must-visit for those who love creativity at its finest, without unnecessary frills.

Something different in Milan. A place where a spring salad can move you. A seafood pasta will surprise you, and a risotto will amaze you with its contrasts. New flavors, unusual combinations. If you're looking for a classic trattoria, this isn't the place for you. If you're curious and willing to be amazed, it's a true pleasure.

I go to Mater Bistrot every chance I get because I love the sophistication, the attention to detail, the exceptional quality of the ingredients, and the chef's research to consistently deliver a highly refined and innovative menu. This restaurant, for this very reason, isn't for everyone. You have to be able to be surprised by contrasts and have the open-mindedness and curiosity to discover how the most unlikely ingredients can come together in an incredible explosion of flavors.

What a creative food experience, greatly enjoyed the combination of tastes and textures, loved the crudo di ricciola. The atmosphere is also great.

What can I say... a truly wonderful experience! As soon as I walked in, I immediately felt at ease: the staff is super welcoming, kind, and always smiling, which really makes the difference. You can really see their passion and attention to every detail! And then the food... simply fantastic. Carefully crafted dishes, incredible flavors, and portions that leave you more than satisfied. Every bite was a confirmation! It's one of those places that stays in your heart, where you go not just to eat well but also to have a wonderful experience. I truly recommend it to everyone, without a second thought! I will definitely be back as soon as I have the chance!

The open kitchen is a central part of the interior and adds a lot to the atmosphere. The staff is exceptionally relaxed and friendly, making you feel welcome from the very first moment. The food is full of surprises: from bold oyster experiments to an upgraded seafood pasta you won’t forget anytime soon, or a perfectly cooked fish enhanced with fresh dressings and an even more beautiful presentation. Thank you for making my girlfriend so happy — that alone makes this place worth returning to.

02/05/2026: My aunt and uncle lived in Milan for 40 years and recently returned to Korea to battle cancer. In Milan, I was recommended either meat or seafood, and since I like seafood, I came here. I teared up while eating. I highly recommend it; make a reservation and be sure to visit. It was the best pairing during my 20-day trip to Europe.

01/06/2026: I've seen a few unusual places in my life, but this is a real train, complete with a locomotive and vintage carriages, sitting on the tracks! In front is the parking lot with a lovely garden that runs the entire length of the train; a wide iron staircase leads up to the level of the carriages. Once aboard, on the right are the bar, kitchen, and restrooms; on the left are three connecting carriages with original furnishings (wooden benches and tables, and the owner dressed as a train conductor). I could stop there and say it's simply wonderful, but instead, there's a beautiful private garden behind it that adds to the surprise. Excellent selection of beers and spirits, cocktails by a real bartender, and very professional, welcoming service. Various events throughout the week, and the possibility of reserving areas for groups. Final verdict: so original that "EXCELLENT" doesn't even begin to describe it. Absolutely worth a try!
26/05/2026: Very quaint and friendly atmosphere, excellent service, very engaging music, everything based on the train that forms the backdrop to the evening. Nice to try!!!
