01/04/2024: Wednesday 6 March 2024, third day in Milan.
Evening arrives and the rain stops too. I'm feeling peckish. Here in front I noticed an Ichimi Restaurant, sushi... and... damn, I really want it, I guess I haven't been there since last year... yeah. I go and get some take away, bring it home and since the stuff doesn't get cold, I look for a bar for a sandwich and a slice of cake for my wife, who doesn't like Japanese food.
Not a bad internal environment, I glanced towards an internal room, the entrance has a reception counter just inside on the left, opposite the cold preparation counter and the actual kitchen is beyond a door even further behind. The boy in charge of sushi works hard and with extreme precision. However, at the reception they are a bit confusing. A quick phone call for a takeaway steals from me who was taking my orders. A colleague comes to his aid, but rather confused: first he tries to serve a second customer who was in the queue behind me, then when he puts together the bag he makes a terrible mess, he can no longer gather with the order tickets and puts and removes trays, in the end, at home, he gave me something extra that I didn't pay for, better!
I must admit, excellent, excellent quality and well proposed. The offer, both on site and to take away, is enormous, you are spoiled for choice. I open my packages and observe: gomi wakame longshoreman portion; mono hoso maki, nine pieces, three of which were special and excellent, never heard of before, the wrapping seaweed is clear and the filling looks like mango...; Temaki mono, the usual cones, but here too there are three, here in Modena they only give you one, there is also one with light seaweed and a tempura prawn; uramaki amaebi, with three-color coating, from red to orange to green, very good; futomaki, four pieces, excellent, which I had not ordered; then ginger - wasabi - soy sauce... eaten all with gusto and sprinkled with Imperial Stout Seambrew beer, black, bought the day before... excellent because without sugar. I don't remember the cost, but I would say around €32.
