Maito clearly has a reputation which unfortunately relies only on legacy. Waitrons are obviously incentivized to upsell but without the delicate skills required to be tactful. We were assured that the Bellini my wife ordered was the real deal. As Italians it should be an embarrassment for them to call it a Bellini especially when you pour the equivalent of a peach ice tea into a bubbly! The meat was marbled and tasty but could have fed four instead of two. The vibe, though, was festive and relaxing. Forte dei Marmi is losing its appeal and Maito is the metaphor for this decline. Not even the Roman Empire could survive the excess and abuse…
New year and feeling a little more forgiving we agreed to give Maito a second chance. Our table location at the beach entrance was a good start as was our pizza frenetica as our starter. The meat selection was excellent but then it all fell apart when our fish order went awry. The grilled fish was proudly presented and then went awol. Clearly served to the wrong table but the excuse, when plating it, it became evident it needed to be returned to the grill. Gaslighting! The number of tables have been increased but it was clear that insufficient waitrons were on duty to maintain the requisite quality of service. Pity that the proprietors don’t understand that cutting corners is quickly exposed to their own detriment.

I celebrated my birthday at Maitó and, overall, it was a wonderful experience. The food was truly delicious, and the entire wait staff was kind, attentive, and professional.
The only negative was the sommelier. Unfortunately, I found her rude, and during the Franciacorta service, she poured the wine out of the glass because she was distracted and looking elsewhere. Furthermore, after we ordered the wine, no one took care of the service, and we had to pour it ourselves for the entire dinner.
So I wonder what the point is of having a sommelier if the wine service is left entirely up to the guests.
It's a shame about this incident, because it clashed with what was otherwise a truly enjoyable experience. Compliments to the kitchen and the rest of the staff, who were impeccable.

Maitó is one of Forte dei Marmi's iconic restaurants, and the experience fully met our expectations. The cuisine is excellent, with top-quality, always fresh ingredients. The pasta dishes are truly exquisite, carefully prepared and bursting with flavor. The service is impeccable: the entire staff is extremely professional, attentive, and always friendly, helping to make lunch or dinner even more enjoyable. An elegant restaurant where quality, hospitality, and attention to detail are evident at every turn. Highly recommended.

Very beautiful and well-kept location. We dined on the beach. The cuisine is simple, well-prepared, and beautifully presented. Extensive wine list (though a bit predictable) with significant markups. Friendly and attentive service. Poor value for money.

Disappointing. Reservation for 9pm for a date on holiday would not return.
Welcome was very average and waitresses ran everywhere throughout the service without giving eye contact. We had to ask for everything, drinks, menus, water. Our drinks sat waiting for a while before being brought over. Pizza was below average for 25€ and the pasta at 30€ was a good portion, warm but nothing to rave about. Worst of all the music kept starting and stopping killing the ambiance of the side terrace which had no fans (kind of like eating in an alley) what a pity when it’s got a brachfront ! The interior looks nice maybe that would have been nicer.
Some guests were served crudités and tapenade but these weren’t present on the menu, shame that could have been a good upsell.
Vegetarian options weak.
Overall very below average.

Removing one star because I thought it was a bit overpriced (130 EUR per person without alcohol or dessert/coffee) and because there are no fans in the terrace so it gets quite hot, but other than that its quite nice. Nice vibe/decor, nice service. The food was nice too (just not as good as I'd expect for the price, but I guess you pay for the location).

Given the setting, I expected to give it a 5th star.
Then we waited 20 minutes for our car to be brought to us. The food was good, but my wife's penne with sauce was much better.

Nice place, excellent seafood, efficient staff, but one major flaw: the hostess was playing the music incredibly loud, disproportionately loud, so we couldn't hear ourselves at the table. Piano music should always be soft and in the background; it can't overwhelm people; they should be able to talk to each other without being overwhelmed by unbearably loud music. A restaurant is not a nightclub.
I would have given everything 5 stars; I hope the owner realizes his mistake and urgently fixes it.
