Great portions, quality food and friendly service

The dishes were brought at different times, it felt like you were alone.

Inside, the tables are practically stacked on top of each other, and waiters struggle to get through. The good news? You can make friends with your neighbors. However, things are significantly better outside, thanks in part to the pleasant sea view. If you order takeout, you can enjoy their fried fish on the pier, with all the space you need. We wait 10 minutes for a menu only to discover that we need to scan the QR code printed on the paper napkin. We're too boomer... We order seafood spaghetti and gnocchi. The wait is long, the service is chaotic, but the dishes are very good and the portions are generous! For dessert, we unroll our used napkins to scan the QR code again. We spent €25 each, a fair price. In conclusion: I wouldn't recommend this place for a romantic occasion, and the service could also be improved. But the food is good, and it's perfect for a casual lunch.

I had lunch today with my partner, a table booked for 12:30... everything was fine, the table was ready... we ordered, the appetizer and wine arrived... everything was delicious, fresh raw... we waited for the first course but... after many reminders, only one of the two first courses arrived... the other didn't arrive... we cancelled the second course... at which point we decided to get up, pay for what we had consumed (2:30 pm), and we left... What can I say? Yes, everything was good, fresh and tasty... but the kitchen service (I presume) was inefficient in managing the number of diners... The dishes at the same table must arrive at the same time, and everyone must eat at the same time.

The appetizer and wine were excellent!!!! Everything was perfect, highly recommended!

L'Ostricaio in Livorno is one of those places that lingers, especially for its atmosphere. It's a small "shack" on the sea, with a cozy dining room but a truly spectacular view: the real highlight is the panorama. The menu is simple but focused on seafood. I remember the delicious tagliolini with sea urchin, although not always available. The fried fish is excellent, and the raw fish is also good; oysters, in particular, are one of the house specialties. The wine selection is also good. In high season, it can get quite hot, especially during the hours of full sun, but it's still worth it. It's one of those places you have to go at least once: almost a must for anyone in the area.

Lunch in the sun, everything was good and fresh. A few flaws in the service, but at the start of the season, perhaps the staff were a little stressed. I recommend bringing wet wipes when serving fish and small plates for the shellfish. All in all, I would definitely return.
