21/06/2025: A hidden gem in the heart of Ostuni – Terra Nostra
While walking through the white streets of Ostuni, on a hot day, we relied on the spontaneous advice of a kind local lady who suggested we stop at Terra Nostra, a place that is an enchanting mix between a delicatessen and a restaurant. It was a fortunate and memorable discovery, perfect for our lunch.
As soon as we entered, we were greeted with great warmth by Mrs. Maria, an authentic and smiling hostess, who immediately made us feel welcome. The environment is simple, rustic and well-kept, and immediately transmits that family atmosphere that puts you at ease.
The menu is typical of Ostuni, made of real flavors and local ingredients. We started with a burratina with capocollo from Martina Franca, both very fresh and so soft that they melt in the mouth. Next, a chicory with pan-fried cherry tomatoes and bay leaves, a real delicacy: the typical bitterness of the chicory was perfectly balanced by the scent of the bay leaves and the sweetness of the dried cherry tomatoes, creating a surprising balance of flavors.
Then came the first courses: orecchiette with fresh tomato, stracciatella and pistachio, and orecchiette with turnip tops and anchovies. Both dishes were an explosion of genuine flavors, carefully prepared and balanced to perfection. To complete it all, a sparkling house rosé wine, fresh and very pleasant, ideal for a summer lunch.
We couldn't help but try the parmigiana, which brought back memories of Sunday family lunches - authentic flavors, prepared with love, just "like mom used to make it".
In the kitchen, assistant chef Noemi, under the supervision of chef Annamaria, was able to tell a living and sincere culinary tradition through the dishes. The service was impeccable thanks to Niccolò, always attentive, helpful and courteous.
Terra Nostra is not just a restaurant, it is a small corner of Puglia where time slows down, the flavors speak to you and the hospitality warms you. A lunch we will not forget. Highly recommended.
PS the bread they bring to the table is something sublime!!!?
19/06/2025: Great food, homemade. For those who like me like to eat typical and local food. Outside the concept of pizzas and related. These wonderful flavors saved me for a few more days
