A gem among the rice fields of Vercelli. At Locanda dell'Orso, you come for the food, but you stay for the atmosphere: familiar, well-kept, authentic. The kind of place that makes you feel like a guest, not a customer. The fried porcini mushrooms are exceptional: crispy on the outside, plump on the inside, served with a simplicity that leaves room for flavor. The breading is tasty but not overpowering, respecting and enhancing the mushrooms. The risotto is perfectly creamed, cooked al dente, and has a fragrance that anticipates the flavor. The staff is kind and attentive, with the courtesy born from a love for their work. The outdoor terrace is a little corner of rustic paradise, with a small herb garden that fills the air with fragrant scents. We found the mint and sage that enhanced our sorbets here. I will definitely return and recommend it to anyone passing through the area.

A small, intimate and welcoming restaurant. Delicious Piedmontese food that changes with the seasons.

We had lunch with the family. For appetizers, we chose two portions of fried bread and one of fried porcini mushrooms. For our first course, we had four portions of panissa, excellent and tasty. The coffee was good. The price was a little above average for the area.
