Lo Scarpone In Roma

We went to this restaurant for lunch today, after a long wait. We enjoyed it under the pergola, with an excellent sirloin steak with grilled vegetables and a decent pasta with clams. The ricotta and pear tart was excellent. The staff who served us were friendly, helpful, and very accommodating. We'll be back!

Quality food, very quiet atmosphere, the place is a bit dated but that's also why it has its charm. Parking is very convenient!

Under a Virginia creeper pergola, the dining experience is pleasant despite the June heat. The tables are spaced just right, allowing for relaxed conversation, with prompt and courteous service. There are some minor lapses in the food: creamy scampi risotto was a bit overcooked, and Jewish-style artichokes (which are a tricky "test") were a bit too dry, but that's within the realm of personal taste.

Beautiful authentically Roman atmosphere, eating outside under the vines and birds chirping. It’s off the beaten path, lots of locals but you are comfortable with waiters that have great humour. I highly recommend the house gnocchi, white wine and getting the cherry and ricotta pie for desert! A perfect vibe after a hot day walking in 30 degree heat

Lo Scarpone is not just a historic restaurant in the Gianicolo area, but also a restaurant where you can go without hesitation or hesitation, a restaurant where local customers are friends, where you can always find a table when it's full, thanks to its central and convenient location, as internal parking is a luxury. In spring, summer, and autumn, the outdoor garden offers the beauty of dining al fresco, away from the noise of cars and streets outside... where you can enjoy the cool shade of the pergola. The interior is a real highlight in winter, a bit retro, but that's precisely the heart of the restaurant: a warm and classic atmosphere. The menu embodies the simplicity and quality of the dishes, ranging from appetizers to first courses, to second courses of grilled meat (excellent!) and fish, all the way to pizzas baked in a wood-fired oven. Indulge in their focaccia accompanied by delicious prosciutto (sliced ​​freshly) and buffalo mozzarella, then try the Jewish-style artichoke (in season), and continue with the always-perfect sliced ​​steak with salt and rosemary. The desserts, which you can also see inside in the window (as they once were), are noteworthy: from the Campanian lemon delizia, rum baba, to the classic tart with sour cherries or ricotta and pears, to strawberries with ice cream, and berries with cream. The warm chocolate cake is also worth a try. For me, it's the restaurant where you can go for lunch with family, dinner with friends, or for a work-related get-together with colleagues. To celebrate birthdays, graduations, and communions, given the large space... Cuisine: Honest, high-quality dishes, excellent meat and fish main courses. Desserts: 10 Service: 9/10, it also depends on when you arrive... but they don't leave anyone behind. Friendliness of the owner: 10! A neighborhood restaurant to go to, no ifs or buts!

I just think this is one of best restaurants in la Roma. It is a "neighborhood" restaurant with true authentic Italian flavor and atmosphere. Nobody is going to rush you out of the place.
