This restaurant was amazing! I'm currently studying abroad in Rome and and went out with a dozen girls in our program. We were not planning on going someplace nice for dinner (it was our first night) but the ambiance drew us in. In spite of being woefully underdressed and at large absent of table manners, the staff and patrons were endlessly welcoming and kind. Our waiter helped me pick out the wine I ordered my table, and helped me with my Italian. The food and wine were amazing; evidently it became the perfect first night in Rome!

Wonderful place high in the Roman hills, in the classy area of Colle del Gianicolo, at the Porta San Pancrazio, is this family-run restaurant originally founded in 1849, but run by the present family for decades.
Second visit now, first was in 2017.
Remains a great place, a local institution, with fantastic meat ready to grill, great artichokes, vegetables and some tasty puddings. Local restaurant wine is fine too, but they can do Super-Tuscan if you prefer.
Full of local Italian families enjoying great food and company!
Worth coming up the hill for!!

The restaurant's obvious strengths are its location—it's practically on the Janiculum Hill—and its free parking. Otherwise, it doesn't excel in anything. It offers a fairly extensive menu, spanning meat, fish, and classic first courses. The quality and flavor are unremarkable, and the prices are typical of a central Rome restaurant, as you'd expect. The ambiance is a bit dated, though not poorly maintained, but not particularly appealing. What left me perplexed was the service, which wasn't particularly brilliant, even in terms of information. It's a place I wouldn't go to on purpose.

I came to this restaurant without knowing it and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. I highly recommend it for a weekday lunch with colleagues; I would gladly return.

The food arrived surprisingly quickly and was very tasty. It’s a nice spot for a calm, enjoyable dinner. The only drawback is that communicating with the staff—such as placing an order or asking for the check—can be a bit slow.

The food and location are top notch, but the service leaves much to be desired. The waiters are rude, their responses are lacking, they're always in a rush, and they don't listen to your requests, or rather, they "forget." Courtesy should always be the main focus! Everything, and EVERYTHING else, is impeccable, so much so that I'm a regular customer. If only they'd fix this flaw!

Minimal pasta portion. They say 120 grams but it's less. 15 euros for a starter for 90 grams of pasta, no problem. Excellent service, the waiters are great. Reservation over the phone was abrupt, you can't tell if they'll take it or not because they immediately hang up after telling us how many of us there are.

I got a nice bonus on a website (you can see which one in the photo) and thought — why not go have something tasty? The pasta was creamy and full of flavor, just perfect!
