L'Imbuto In Lucca

I was a guest last night with my husband to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The restaurant is located within the walls of Lucca, my advice is to leave the car outside as it is a ZTL area. Don't rely too much on Google Maps if you don't want to go home with a fine. The dinner includes a choice of three surprise tastings: 5, 7 or 9 courses plus dessert. We chose the last one with a cost of €150 per person, excluding wine. The menu included fish and meat dishes with a touch of genius in every single course that made the dinner very fun and satisfying, especially since we didn't know what to expect since it is a blind tasting. Compliments to the dining room staff who listened to us and followed us from the beginning to the end of the dinner, doing their job impeccably. The restaurant is also accessible to people with disabilities and is pet friendly.

The course winds through fish and meat dishes with different consistencies and cooking methods and combinations reinterpreted by chef Tomei. The wine list presents a great variety and different typologies with particular labels from all over the world. The dining room staff is very kind and well prepared. The restaurant is located within the walls of Lucca immersed in the beautiful setting of the Pfanner palace, be careful of the ZTL.

Wonderful fine dine experience. Exceptional service, great wine. Playful set menu sporting a wide variety of flavours and presentations. Absolutely worth a visit if you're a foodie with a little extra cash on hand.

5 well deserved stars! 7-course menu, we counted 10, all truly above expectations! The primitive steak and the ravioli with oil and parmesan are truly worth everything!! Very good chef and all the staff, a beautiful evening thanks to you too

Good but not great given the cost

La cena in questo illustre ristorante lucchese mi è stata donata come regalo per il pensionamento. Sono stato davvero curioso di provare la cucina dello chef Tomei (che ho seguito negli anni anche nei programmi televisivi cui ha partecipato). La sua proposta culinaria è molto netta, sia nelle modalità (la scelta dei piatti e la loro sequenza è stabilita insindacabilmente dal cuoco) sia nei gusti sempre originali (anche se non sempre - almeno a parer mio - altrettanto azzeccati). Dominano ovunque le note amare e, forse per questa insistenza, ho trovato la sequenza propostami non sempre efficace. In ogni caso, alcune pietanze sono davvero sorprendenti (i tordelli ripieni di olio EVO, la battuta di carne al sapore di griglia) e le varie presentazioni talvolta geniali e spiritose. Il servizio è attento e piacevole. Alla fine della cena, lo chef esce dalla cucina per salutare. Certo, non so se - pagando di tasca mia - ripeterei una esperienza che, comunque, nel bene e nel male, non si fa dimenticare.

Che dire se non grazie! È stata la prima volta e non sarà l’ultima. Esperienza bellissima, un pranzo evocatore di luoghi, ricordi, odori e sapori. Un sapiente uso delle materie prime dei luoghi dello chef Tomei, che ci ha accompagnato dalla macchia mediterranea della costa toscana fino alle montagne della Versilia. Tra i piatti che mi porterò nel cuore i classici la bistecca primitiva e i ravioli olio e parmigiano, ma anche il riso con porcini e burro acido e pinoli. Una menzione particolare per la sorella dello chef, impeccabile signora della sala che è stata sapiente guida di viaggio.

EXTRAORDINARY! The restaurant is set in a wonderful context adjacent to the walls of Lucca. Unique elegant magical city. A relaxing room with cheerful but not annoying background music. The choice of menu is personal, five, seven, nine courses, with wine pairings or just glasses. We chose the 7-stage route or journey with a glass of wine, asking to omit entrails from the menu. The chef created AMAZING dishes. We were greeted by friendly, cheerful and familiar staff. A gem for me were the choices of serving dishes, the tortelli with oil and parmesan on my grandmother's plate took me back home. All the people who work with chef Tomei really deserve many compliments. Well done everyone, we will definitely be back!
