Like everything in Matera, the best thing about it is the atmosphere, which is fantastic. The locally sourced beef was cooked to perfection and tasted good, but it was quite fibrous. The selection of meats and cheeses is worthwhile. The sausage with potatoes is a kind of chorizo criollo, but with an anise-flavored spice that overpowers the meat's flavor. The formaggie cheese was very good. As I said, the best thing about it all was the atmosphere.

A pleasant lunch break at Osteria L’Arco. We opted for a simple meal of pasta. The “Troccoli con baccalà alla materana,” a regional specialty, was particularly enjoyable. Troccoli, typical of Puglia, are thick, slightly square pasta, perfect for holding sauce. Here, they were served with flavorful baccalà and a rich, tangy sauce. The service was attentive and the setting charming, especially on the terrace overlooking the narrow streets of Matera.

Inside a cave carved into the tuff, this beautiful restaurant offers excellent food paired with fine local wines. Matera is a magical place, and dining inside a typical Matera stone is a unique experience. I went with a group, and everyone was thrilled.

A very well-kept traditional restaurant with attentive service.
We had a cod and potato tart, Torcoli with ricotta and crusco peppers, and broad beans and chicory. Everything was delicious.

Very nice place, the very kind waiter greeted us and seated us in a flash even though we hadn't booked.
Quick service; my son Giorgio had our plate in front of him within five minutes.
It was a very pleasant evening, and I highly recommend it.
