We had an absolutely fantastic experience at the Vecchia Lira - the truffle pasta was delicious and the “sugo di capriolo” (deer goulash-sauce) was the best pasta I’ve had in a while. Service was warm, friendly and made great recommendations. Try the delicious tiramisu as a dessert! 🍮

I found this place by asking a girl from Volterra I met on the street for advice, and it turned out to be an extraordinary surprise. The tartare was so good it was moving. The owner was friendly and professional. A must-visit every time I pass through Volterra. Edit: I came back about ten days ago, and what can I say... It's a shame I don't live near Volterra. A truly wonderful restaurant.

By chance, I managed to get a wonderful spot at the front of the restaurant. The owner was very nice and the service was super friendly. Our white wine was excellent. The appetizers were exceptionally well presented and a true delight. The grilled tuna with fried peach slices was the best I've ever eaten. The dessert was equally delicious, as was the espresso to finish. I will cherish the fond memories of my visit to Volterra for a long time to come.

Wonderful Tuscan Osteria!! Excellent food, perfect service, welcoming atmosphere...very friendly and approachable owner...if you come to Volterra you MUST eat here!!!

Prezzi onesti, qualità alta, servizio ottimo. Fiorentina di chianina a 55 al chilo veramente top, vini con il giusto ricarico, ottimi i dolci. Bravi! Se passate da qui, fermatevi, non ve ne pentirete.

Durante una gita scolastica, io e la mia collega decidiamo di andare a fare pranzo in questo locale. Appena siamo entrati abbiamo già notato la cura dell'arredamento e la qualità dei vini. Abbiamo deciso di prendere il tagliere di salumi formaggi e bruschette, divino! Salumi di ottima qualità, nostrani e abbondanti disposti insieme a dei buoni formaggi e tre bruschette una con olio l'altra con pomodorini e l'altra con un ottimo paté di pollo su un tagliere di legno. Personale molto cortese e servizio veloce. Lo consiglio per tutti coloro che vogliono assaporare un pó di Toscana!

07/08/2025: Siamo stati a cena io e mia moglie in questa bellissima locanda,l'accoglienza ed il servizio sono stati eccellenti,il titolare e le sue ragazze preparati e simpatici,il cibo è stato squisito dall'antipasto al dolce,il panorama sulle colline al tramonto meraviglioso. Il rapporto qualità prezzo eccellente.Lo consiglio vivamente.
28/07/2025: Enchanting place overlooking the Tuscan hills. Dinner with family. Excellent service, the innkeeper was very kind and very knowledgeable, and you could feel the care and passion for his work. Very good food.

07/09/2025: We're coming from Asti, staying at the Lido di Camaiore, and to get to San Miniato we drove 80 km. We were completely rewarded by the food and the kindness of the staff. We arrived unexpectedly with three Yorkshire Terriers, which was no problem even though the restaurant was packed. The Tuscan appetizer was excellent, as were the crostini. I thought the pici with wild boar ragù were a delight. I can't comment on the mushroom dishes since I don't eat them. Congratulations
