I ate at La Vecchia Fontana, and I have to say it was a truly surprising experience—and that's not easy, because even though I live in the North, I'm Sicilian and know the flavors of home well. We started with a rich, traditional house appetizer: croquettes, delicious arancini, a selection of cheeses with an intense and distinctive flavor—one in particular had a taste I don't remember ever having tasted before. To top it all off, caponata and fried parmigiana: the latter truly spectacular, flavorful yet balanced, the kind you'd eat over and over again. Then we moved on to the pizzas—we ordered three different ones to sample as many flavors as possible—and I chose the parmigiana pizza: simply exceptional. The dough was crumbly, light, well-cooked, and the ingredients were incredibly fresh. The flavor of the cheeses was authentic, full-bodied, the kind that are increasingly rare these days. I have to be honest: I haven't had a pizza like this in at least 15 years. And for someone like me, accustomed to Sicilian flavors, that's no small compliment. A place where you can taste the quality of the ingredients, the care taken in the dishes, and the respect for tradition. We've already been to the restaurant (10 people). The pizzas were delicious, the portions were large, and the staff was friendly. There was no tea, but everything else was perfect. A truly Sicilian experience. I highly recommend it.
