La Torre alle Tolfe In Siena

I absolutely loved my stay at La Torre alle Tolfe and appreciated how kind and knowledgeable all the staff were. I spent five nights here and everything was great - the food was delicious, I loved learning more about the property through the historical tour, olive oil and wine tastings, and animal feeding/regenerative farming tour, and enjoyed meeting many interesting people. I definitely hope to be back again and highly recommend staying here!

What a lovely hotel, very nice view. We also had a wine tour at the hotel and our tour guide was the owner. Its the third generation, we love the vision, atmosphere everything about the hotel..

We spent a week in this picture-postcard location. The property has truly been enhanced by the estate's owners, who enthusiastically share their love of their region and its gastronomic heritage. The rooms, with their authentic charm, bear the marks of time, but the thick walls provide a welcome coolness in summer despite the lack of air conditioning. A special mention goes to the restaurant, with its magnificent views of Tuscany and delicious dishes that far surpassed anything we tasted in Siena. We're already dreaming of returning... perhaps for our wedding!

A magnificent stay at Torre alla Tolfe, in a splendid, historic, and relaxing setting. The property consists of a small group of large buildings perched on a hilltop, surrounding an ancient tower dating back to Charlemagne. The view from the property overlooks the entire countryside east of Siena, offering a typical Tuscan landscape. The hill is surrounded by olive trees and vineyards managed by the estate, which produces its own wine (including an excellent Chianti) and olive oil in an ecological and sustainable manner. The swimming pool offers magnificent views of the Tuscan landscape, and a small bar serves drinks during the day. The property also has a restaurant and a shop where you can purchase products from the estate and the region. The quality of our stay was also due to the attentiveness and kindness of the team who manage the estate. It should be noted that upon my arrival, I received a warm welcome from the receptionist in excellent French. Finally, the estate offers many activities on site, including a historical tour of the property followed by a tasting of the estate's wines. I highly recommend this tour, which lasts a little over 2 hours (you won't see the time go by) and which will allow you to visit the underground passages of the property and immerse yourself in the history of the place. A huge thank you to Virginia who organized this tour during my stay and who really knew how to convey her passion for the history and the wine production of the place.

You can't say you've been to Tuscany if you haven't stayed in the countryside. There are no words to describe this hidden gem of a place nestled on a hilltop overlooking the tower in city of Siena. The property is absolutely gorgeous and quite large with an amazing hilltop restaurant overlooking the Tuscan landscape. In the afternoon you can cool off in the large refreshing pool or relax under an umbrella and listen to the cicadas lull you to a state of complete relaxation. The location is about 10 minutes outside of Siena and is a perfect 'home base' to explore the many gems in the area. We visited Siena, Volterra (my favourite), Arrezzo, and Monterigione. There are so many other historic places to explore but not enough time. Dinner at the restaurant was amazing as well offering traditional Tuscan cuisine and the service was exceptional. We were so relieved to be able to dine on site and enjoy some drinks with the most incredible view instead of driving at night. It is very dark in the countryside for driving. Our apartment was very cool as well. Two bedrooms each with it's own bathroom, a sitting area with a television, and a full ktichen. We slept very well here despite our room having no A/C - it was surprisingly cool at the time of this stay. We rented the tower room, would highly recommend. It is a tower built in 800 that has been converted into a suite. It added to the experience of staying in Tuscany and allowed for amazing views from the roof top veranda. This is also located outside of town, but close enough to Sienna and other surrounding towns to give a nice balance between being close but not always in the middle of the city. Food in the restaurant was also great and the staff is very accommodating.

I feel disheartened to have to give a lower review, firstly, the staff are really wonderful from check-in and reception, the lovely Marel always eager to help and make my stay welcoming and enjoyable. Sydney, Emily and Virginia ran the historical, animal and olive oil tours which were super fun! I met the owner herself, thank you Mania for transforming a family home to a wonderful space. What makes me upset is the treatment I received at the ristorante. They treated me like a second class citizen just bc I was a solo traveler. God forbid im on a self-healing journey and dont drink wine, looking for some respite on the country side - they always seated me in the back corner and wouldnt let me just choose where I wanted to sit. One evening for dinner, which I made reservations for, they sat me inside, even though there were empty available tables outside. The waitor rolled his eyes at me and with a very exasperated expression acquiesced to give me a table outside after I insisted to sit outside bc its too hot inside. Way to make someone feel like such an inconvenience, unworthy and unloved. You’d think you work hard and want to treat yourself to a vacation but people can still be mean. I actually didnt even eat lunch or dinner on my last day here to avoid the same boring and rude treatment. Why would you pay over $1000 to stay here and receive this type of treatment. I dont think it’s excusable to say you had changes in staffing/issues, allowing me to sit at any empty table is pretty basic first come first serve hospitality. Also, its the same menu for lunch and dinner. (UPDATED*) This agriturismo has a lot of potential but there is much room for improvement like. My room was above the kitchen and there was clanking of dishware well after midnight, no wifi in room but no mesh on all windows in common area they open for breeze, I was attacked by mosquitos and so uncomfortable all over my face as they got into my room from the living room. They do some events - I was lucky to attend a cool oyster and wine event when I was there. I wish they had some activity every evening - whether is movie projection on the torre, live music or band, pizza night, dancing under the stars, they had globe lights strung but never turned on. They didnt offer cooking class while I was there an no subsitute or suggestion to go to Siena town to do something. They provided me with a yoga mat and the pool is very nice.

The location is fantastic. Lying by the pool at lunch and gazing out over the valley is idyllic. The rooms are functional. Luckily, we had air conditioning, otherwise it would have been unbearable. There's also an elevator 👍🏻 No Wi-Fi in the room (important for some) Breakfast is okay but could be more varied. The food in the restaurant is great but quite expensive, and there's only a small selection. If you're staying for a week, you'll have to drive somewhere to eat, which isn't a bad thing. Water from a vending machine costs €1 for a liter. They could also provide that.
